w00t, my combination of browsers suited to different roles has made internet explorer obsolete except for emails since its tied into to MSN messenger:O
I'm glad I made the switch to Firefox then, even if it was from Netscape... Firefox and Norton make my internet damn secure.
This was all over the news. I havent caught if its been patched yet, but yea IE is broken. Dont ever use it. Firefox FTW.
No its not bashing, its reality! IMHO IE has encountered so many bugs and viruses that it has become virtually impossible to trust it. I think hackers are always trying their LUCK on IE and getting better day by day. Other browsers are pretty active about the threats or hackers have no taste for them. Again it would be better to completely switch to FF, avant or chrome. Cheers
I don't see why I should switch. IE does everything I need the internet to do and runs fast enough for me, and my antivirus and antispyware stop any problems with security, only stuff I get are internet tracking cookies. I've been using IE on this laptop for 2 years, at 1 point without anti-virus, and it still works the same as when I first got it except for ocasional slowdowns(very minor). But thats to be expected considering all the components in my laptop are about 3 years old.
Yeah, the newest IE isn't half-bad. Doesn't explode quite as much. However, the bug that the article talks about isn't a virus entry or spyware, it's a basic root level access fault wherein if you're using IE or used it in the past and didn't get the patch (You got the patch right?), you're practically naked. So, IE is safe(ish anyway), but only the newest version, or the patch (Both for good measure)
It doesn't matter what you run, be it IE or FF, you should always make sure it is up to date. @Kerrigan Avant IS IE. It is a shell that uses the same Trident engine as IE, so the security vulnerabilites are much the same.
Same here. Also my FF updated itself to version 3 the other day so I'll get security updates regularly and automatically.
Im almost 100% sure I got the patch, as my comp updated explorer, etc shortly after. Same thing happened on my dad's comp, who also uses IE. He's an electrical engineer and works alot with computers, so if he's not worried about it, I think I'm safe.
