Interesting Game Mode?

In 1v1 broodwar (haven't seen that much in SC2), I always found it cool when players could do so much at the same time. For example, I like my idea of scouting with let's say a probe in your opponents base, but also rightclicking to mine your opponents mineral patches to deny your opponent mining on those patches (not actually stealing any minerals) continously. I do not know if this is actually beneficial (it should be a little I guess).

In reality, wasting apm and focus for such little gain isn't really worth it (because I doubt you can macro well if your focusing so hard on not grabbing the minerals). The point is that you have this idea of doing something cool, maybe microing 4 groups of hellions at 4 different expansions against queens and such, but just not beeing able to do so = 2 groups of hellions die.

What I thought about, is a 1v1 game, where every player (6v6 and maybe more if possible) is controlling something with shared control for their race. That means, every player will hold a specific area on the map, or control a specific group of units, or even individual units. Later in the game 4 people could macro the bases and 2 players micro the units. Early in the game one would only focus on using the queens and another player on overlords, drone scouts, what have you.

The result? If the players are plat/diamond or at least know how to do ONE thing properly, we would see a combined force of around 700 apm (if not more) and some pretty sick play as now, controlling everything on the map is not a problem, as player 1 is in control of making sure there is only 1 unit coming out of the barracks at a time continously and player 2 is microing the hellions etc (you get the idea).

I'm not sure how the control splitting would work, but it shouldn't be too hard to figure something out.

I wouldn't necessarly think that this would be boring to play as a UMS; you wouldn't have to worry about 10 things at a time and you can focus on what you're controlling. Of course, Starcraft will always be about 1v1 and multitasking skill, this is nothing to replace that. Agreed, there isn't as much skill in controlling JUST a unit, but it would make a kickass UMS in my opinion for a casual group of people (or really any group of people).

    What do you think?

It is an implemented gamemode in Brood War, it's really fun playing 1v1 with two players controlling one army each

The people would need excellent team work AND their strengths would have to cover eachother's weaknesses. The idea has a lot of potential and could have some amazing games...

The first time I played I didn't know we were sharing a single team, so from the getgo I was screwing up my friends' attempts to build a base. I'd definitely like to try it again though.

I played a game sort of like that a few months ago with some friends :) I controlled the Terran(we were playing Team Free For All), and built up the Battlecruiser armada, one person focused on expansion, one person focused on defence, and the other focused on harassment of the enemy. It worked very well, we beat them in less than an hour if I recall correctly :D
