Post your answers to the 'What will you do next'....The answer with the most post is where we go from.

You awaken in your room one morning, refreshed and ready to start the day. You notice it's pretty dark outside, judging from your window, so it must be sometime around 5pm. You wonder why you've slept in so long, but it's irrelevant.

As you go downstairs, you notice it's eerily quiet. You suddenly gasp as you see a fairly large hairy mass just at the foot of the stairs. You cautiously get closer, only to realize it's your dog, dead. The body is cold, but not decomposed at all. It's hair is very long, maybe a foot in length, white in color.

Almost teary-eyed at the sight of your dead dog, you carry on through your house, wondering what the hell is going on. You enter the kitchen and since you're very hungry and thirsty you scavenge for food. Everything in the fridge smells terrible, so you opt for a can of peas, and some bottled water. It takes you not even 5 minutes before you're onto your next can, and then the next. There is none left, but it doesn't matter, you're pretty full.

You walk past the main foyer of your house and notice the front door is open. It's opening and closing repeatedly because it's very windy. You see that it's snowing outside, and pretty harsh. You walk outside and it must be at least 20 degrees below zero. There is no one in sight, which is unusual since it's a very populated neighborhood. No lights are on in any houses, neither are the street posts illuminated. Confused, you begin to walk back inside when you notice your mailbox is jam packed with fliers, newspapers, and the ilk.

You grab the first thing you can. It's a newspaper dated a few weeks back. You read the front headline: "UNKNOWN INFECTION PLAGUES MILLIONS.". You read further: "A new bacteria transmitted by water, and direct contact has been discovered to inflict damage on the infected's ability to reason. Individuals have been categorized as being very violent, have increased agility, and the ability to infect others. Individuals should be avoided and quarantined at all costs."

You stop reading immediately as you begin to piece it together. You drop the newspaper, rush inside, and lock the doors. It's been a while since you've last been awake according to your digital watch, and in this time it would appear as if civilization has turned for the worst.

You rush into the basement to look for something to protect yourself in the likely event you'll encounter one of these nuisances. Since your father is a gun enthusiast, he must have something. Playing lots of survival horror games in your youth years must have given you some kind of upper edge, right?

You see a Glock 18 pistol, a butterfly knife, a lighter, a few bandages, and needles + thread. There is only the rounds in the pistol, and nothing more. You figure you should gather some supplies, but the nearest mall is about ten blocks away, and in this harsh weather, you may not be able to make it with what you're wearing. You decide you might as well drive, but you can't find your keys. Not that it would matter, as the doors are probably frozen shut.

The electricity isn't working, the water is likely contaminated, all your food is expired, and there is no lumber nearby to make a barricade. If you stay here, you'll likely starve, and if you leave the house, you'll likely freeze to death. Weather doesn't look like it's going to clear up. I mean, it's June and it's a snowstorm.

    What will you do?

I think you want a short single-sentence response, and you will create an event that will lead to the next short response, correct? If so, here it is. If not, then IDK what you want...

You will search the house for warm clothing and any other possible supplies that could be helpful, then venture outside in the direction of the mall.

You will walk in the dark, slip on a patch of black ice, break your leg, and die of hypothermia. Game over. Restart from checkpoint?

    Yeah, that's right.

In your house, you manage to find a couple long sleeve shirts, some heavy work pants, and a somewhat thick jacket. You won't be comfortable, but at least you'll survive....For a while. You throw your supplies into a bag, along with a few cans of food you scrounged up. Taking a deep breathe, you plunge out into the cold.

The cold air hits you like a proverbial ton of bricks. Shivering, you make your way through the deep snow to the mall. Along the way, you don't see any sign of life whatsoever, no tire tracks, no footsteps, nothing. The air is quite and still, the only sound you can hear is your crunching foot steps and your own labored breathing.

Suddenly, you hear a soft moan. Spinning around, you see a woman slowly crawling out of the snow towards you. She isn't wearing winter clothing, and her mouth is bloody.

    What do you do?

EDIT: Wick. I'm the storyteller here, you only get to chose one course of action

WICK. You're doing it wrong. The right way would've been "You pretend you didn't see her and run your legs off." PERIOD.

You try to forget you saw the woman and run like hell. For all you know, she could be one of 'them'.

After running for a good couple minutes, you see the mall. The door's unlocked, so you just walk in.

The mall is dark, and the only light source you have is the lighter you found in your basement. Knowing it won't last forever, you try to ration it. You briefly check the mall map at the entrance you came in, but since you've been here before, it just serves as a reminder.

The mall is two floors, and it's in a Y shape, with you on the southmost part of the Y. Just a bunch of clothing stores, most of which is blocked by steel shutters. As the approach the Y intersection, something poses a problem. It seems as if both other sections have been barricaded before, probably by others to keep the infected at bay.

Some of the stores, though, are unblocked. This includes a general hardware store, a small bank, and a dollarstore. The products in each are common items you'd find in them in real life, but most of the dollarstore has been ransacked already. No food left.

You could go back outside and find another way in, or try to take apart the barricades yourself. But you do not know if people barricaded themselves in, or barricaded the infected in. There's no telling if there's monsters behind any of the barricades.

    What do you do?

You enter the bank and explore for clues, along with grabbing some dough.

You enter the bank, and try the light switches. Surprisingly, about half the lights turn on. Psyched that you can look around without wasting precious lighter fluid, you proceed to check all the tills. Understandably, there's nothing in them. You glance at the safe, but it's still securely locked up. You do grab a pen and some paper, never know when that might come in handy.

As you leave the bank, you hear four heavy thumps on the other side of the barricade. The makeshift wall seems solid however, and doesn't even move.

    What do you do?

    Also: @EMR, clues?

I dunno. A dropped newspaper with more information? A body? Some hint as to whether the things are stuck inside or the survivors are hiding inside?

I'm going to make it a point to not answer twice in a row, because I would totally just sit here and keep replying...

You fire a round in the barricade, and it penetrates, allowing you to look through the hole.

*You fire a round in the barricade, attempting to create a hole to look through.

...I think that's more correct for this setup.

Curious as to what in the hell those thumps were, you pull out your pistol and fire at the barricade, hoping to make a hole large enough to look through. Unfortunately, you failed to recall that the gun is NOT silenced. The crash of gunfire echos around the mall for what seems like an eternity. You're too petrified to move while the gunshot reverberates off the walls. When the sound finally dies down, you listen as hard as you can for any kind of sound.

Five minutes later, you're content that you won't immediately be swarmed by god only knows what. You go over to the barricade, and are pleased to find that your plan more or less worked. You peer through the hole, but are disappointed by the site. There's no humans (Former or otherwise) on the other side, living or dead. You do see some shops however, and they don't look to be ransacked.

    What do you do?

@Wick. I don't mean to be rude or harsh or anything....But the way this works is you choose an action, and I choose the consequence....All you do is chose what to do, I chose what happens.

    That's more like it =D

Moving away from the barricade, you enter the hardware store. This place hasn't been looted too much, aside from the cash registers and those soda coolers by the checkout lanes. You look over every aisle, just to be sure. After all is said and done, you walk out with a hammer, some gloves, a small pile of wood for the night, and, naturally, a crowbar.

You glance at your watch, it reads 3:34 PM.

Plenty of time to either bunker down or explore.

    What do you do?

You decide to go exploring. Currently, the mall is Y shaped. You're at the crux of the Y. As stated before, going south is mostly clothing shops. The North-east section, if you recall right, goes up some stairs, and there's some electronic stores up there, along with the food court. The North-west section is downstairs, and contains some gift stores, a music store, and a sporting goods store, as well as mall offices and maintenance. It is the North-west section with the thumps and the bullet hole.

    Which way do you go?

Figuring since you didn't die last time, you decide to make a similar hole in the other barricade. You pull out your gun, and fire at the wall. As the gunshot echos, you confidently stride over to the wall and peer inside.

You nearly have a heart attack when something peers back.

    8 shots left.

    What do you do

Tentatively, you creep back to the wall. You look in your peephole, and the eye is still staring back at you. Cautiously, you say hello. No response. You continue to attempt to converse with it, everytime, no response.
