I just installed sc2 on my computer and here's the catch though, I'm in Afghanistan so I have no internet on my personal computer and I have yet to find a site that will let me download that patch off it. I emailed blizzard and they pretty much told me I have to have internet to at least get the patch and then put it on a thumb drive. I was wondering if anyone could put the patch on a upload/download site so I could get it that way. If any is able to do this I'd appreciate it a lot. Thankyou.
Do you have enUS or enGB (Europe) StarCraft 2? Read my FAQ and you will find a list of where to download the patch. You have to connect to the internet to be prompted to get the patch (meaning you can't just install the patch). Try finding a leaky wifi to connect to, or the IPX (that's were my buddy Paul would connect when he was stationed over there). I would assume you have a laptop, if your unsure how to enable the wireless on it, just post its make and model and I'll find out how for you.
Regretably where I am there is no wifi what so ever, Im in Marjah Afghanistan (Middle of nowhere farming area). Only way we can get on the internet (like now) is through our mwr in which the server has port security making only the computers in there able to hook up to the internet. Then theres the internet we have in our CP and those are government lines so you definently cant hook up to those without being smited lol. I have enUS SC2, also the blizz rep that emailed me back said I could copy the patch onto a thumbdrive and then put it into my SC2 file. Which is why i was asking about the patch being uploaded for my poor Marine butt lol.
Oh man. I mean, copying the files will work if you are being prompted to patch (but it doesn't download), but what the blizzard rep failed to tell you is that you may not be able to play if you can't connect to battle.net. -_- This bites for a hard working solder like you, I don't like it for a min. Let me know if you are at least getting a prompt to patch StarCraft II. If yes, download the patch information from my FAQ and place it into your StarCraft 2 folder. If no, your options are either to take the laptop to where you can get internet access enough to prompt to patch... or we'll talk about the other options via private message. Let me know if you are prompted to patch on your computer. Regardless, you need to at least be able to install the 1.0.0 patch to play at all (meaning you can't play the game after simply installing it).
Yeah after I installed it and I try to start to the game a little window comes up and says there is a update for Starcraft 2, Would you like to install it? Yes or No. So I'm not sure if that's the prompt your talking about if so ill try the link on your FAQ. Also which files do i need to download? All 4 of them or just the first one and the biggest SC2_enUS_PC_PATCH_15xxx-16117.rar
Okay, if you press yes, then the patcher program will come up. Once it says its downloading a patch (and it will prob fail at doing so) you can then copy the manual patch information in my FAQ into the the StarCraft to folder. It should patch then. It's too bad the manual patch wasn't an .exe like StarCraft 1 and other Blizzard games, but that's what we're all stuck with for now. :/
