Install issues....digital copy.

  1. I've called tech support three times with no help....

I had it installed, it was working, then it started crashing. saying the files were corrupt. I ran the repair tool but that failed to find the problem. i tried reinstalling it, but it stopped at random points saying it can't decompress the ogg file.

I did it all, restarts, checked the memory, formatted, safe mode installations, everything. I seriously tried everything. Now when i try to install it. it just gives me random failures. "this files failed to copy" "that file failed to copy" Every time it is a different file.

Tech support is stumped...after three hours on the phone with them..they proved no help...

  2. update

something so simple: I unplugged my portable hard drive and it allowed me to actually install the game and patch it. however...playing it, it crashed in the load up screen saying a corrupted copy, i'm reinstalling now...i'm surprised its letting me....

Stop reinstalling, first we need to figure out if what your hard drive error. I need the following information:
    - Virus Scanner
    - dxdiag - This will tell me what hard drive is installed on your machine so I can get you the proper utility for checking to see if its failing!! Follow instructions to compress it and attach it to a post.

The best thing to do is to completely STOP trying to format/reinstall stuff for now. If the drive is failing, formatting/installing stuff will just reduce its life span more and give you less time to backup the stuff you want off of the drive!!

First thing I want you can do after posting the dxdiag here, is to open a command prompt and run check disk. TO do that:
    1. Run CMD as administrator (follow instructions)

    2. Once CMD is open as an admin, type "chkdsk c:" and let it run. If errors are reported, run "chkdsk c: /f" and when it can't force 'all open handlers' closed, keep pressing yes until it presents you the option of running on boot. Once you know chkdsk will run on boot, restart the computer.

Considering that you've apparently 'formatted' the machine, I'll lean toward drive failure. Post the dxdiag and I'll track down your hard drive utilities to find out for sure.

Sorry about that, I didn't post the correct link to DXDiag. Hope you get back to me so we can solve this.
