    Hi,

I am having issues with SC2 installation. I had SC2 installed and running fine until patch 1.1.1 auto-downloaded. After the DL entering the game was extremely slow, logging in was fine, but the game would crash when I entered multiplayer or single player (vs. AI) games.

I uninstalled the program and now I can't reinstall. The installation gets to between 20-40% and I get the attached error message (different files each time). I tried to install from the CD directly and I tried to copy the contents of the cd (hidden files included) onto my desktop and install it from there (cd removed). Still the same errors. I ran a defrag and a chkdsk. Chkdsk had no problems and defrag is complete. Still same error.

Not sure what else to do. Please help!

Other then a really old audio driver (newest can be found here), I'm not seeing anything driver wise.

    First try running chkdsk:
    To run chkdsk:
    1. Run CMD as administrator (follow instructions)

    2. Once CMD is open as an admin, type "chkdsk c:" and let it run. If errors are reported, run "chkdsk c: /f" and when it can't force 'all open handlers' closed, keep pressing 'y' until it presents you the option of running on boot. Once you know chkdsk will run on boot, restart the computer.

After that, go to Start=>All Programs=>StarCraft II=>StarCraft II-Repair and see if it will version revert your installation. After that try patching again.

Let me know if this helps or not. :/

  3. Sorry to post in this thread, but i'm having pretty much the same issue.

I installed the game fine and have played it successfully on my desktop, but upon trying to install it on my laptop i get this error message (using the disc and the downloaded installer both...):

The file "D:\Program Files\StarCraft II\Campaigns\Liberty.SC2Campaign\base.SC2Assets : Assets\Sounds\Uni\Foley\Marine02_Fidget_01_Char.wav" could not be written. If this problem persists, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (MPQTarget::Write/SFileWriteFile)

the file changes each time, and occurs at different completion percentages....

tried both my C and D drives.

Been scouring the internet in search of a solution.... can't seem to find one :(

edit: SLI by the way. Just thought i'd add that since i don't think it says that in the DxDiag

Take the disc out of the drive when using downloaded installer.

Follow above instructions and run chkdsk on all drives if that didn't work. Checking dxdiag for unrelated stuffs.

  5. Tried the downloaded installer without the disc in the tray(forgot to mention this.); same issue.

Ran disk checks on both drives, no errors.

    =\

Way to be lightning fast with the response :)

You need a newer video driver when you finally go to play this game. Try this driver, but I am unsure if it will work but it should. Driver is 2 years newer. DO NOT PLAY STARCRAFT II WITH CURRENT DRIVER THAT IS INSTALLED!

    Newest Realtek Audio driver.

Use the Intel Driver Update Utility to see if you have any Intel Driver Updates.

Read this thread on enabling AHCI. Currently your SATA drives are running in legacy ATA mode, so you may need to adjust that in your BIOS.

We'll start with drivers. What is the exact model of your X205? Look at the bottom of your laptop to find it... should be something like P205-S7469 (using a P205 here.. i hate this thing).

What are you using for virus protection?

Oh yeah, some people have had an "OGG" error that was fixed my minimizing the installer while it was installing. Maybe you could try that?
