Okay, this is an odd one... I am running SC2 on the lowest possible settings, yet I am still getting lag. The strange thing is that the lag doesn't kick in until about 5-10 minutes after I start up the game, and once it does kick it in continues to happen until I quit out completely and reload. It is nothing to do with the game mode played - I've run 1vs1 and 2v2 with AI and I've played the single player campaign - in all cases, the lag kicks in with no discernable cause. I often get a popup saying I should "close programs running in the background", but the task manager says nothing else is running. Any clues as to what could be causing this? If you want them, here's the tech specs: Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) 8650 Triple-Core Processor (3 CPUs), ~2.3GHz Memory: 3838MB RAM DirectX 11 NVIDIA GeForce 9100
If I were you I'd install a temperature monitoring programme and check the logs after experiencing the lag. Is there lag with other programmes/games? If there is, is the programme/game comparable to SC2 in terms of system requirements and load?
The only other games I have / had were UT2004, which ran fine (what a shock! ) and Dawn of War... which also ran perfectly even on high spec. Any advice where to find this temp monitor program? Actually, I don't think it is a problem with overheating... I've just finished a game (with that annoying little lag kicking in as usual) yet if I feel around behind the PC it's barely even warm, and I can hardly hear the fan at all.
