With medium settings, the game runs fine for about 90% of the time. For the other 10%, the framerate drops to <5. This happens most often when new things are being loaded, such as a new objective or a new unit (in the campaign). This sudden framerate drop also just happens randomly, around once every 30 seconds to a minute.

Also, this might be unrelated, but clicking the friends list button in the bottom right generally takes 3-4 seconds to load.

    Hardware:

    Windows Vista Ultimate
ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 (crossfire)
    Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 - 2.40 GHz
    2 GB Ram

    Advice is appreciated.

I don't think that would be your computer, possibly BNet. I'm not sure.

I've been having this exact issue.

The game runs silky smooth for 20second bursts, then 20seconds of stuttering. This goes on and on again. The 20seconds of smooth gameplay shows that my comp can run the game smoothly, so there's something weird going on.

I suspect it might be related to some video settings. I updated to the newest NVidia drivers before I installed the game and it never occurred to me to check them.

A few minutes ago, I realized a new setting called "Maximum Pre-rendered Frames" was causing HUGE mouse latency on my machine. Changing this from 3 to 2 got rid of this problem entirely.

I will keep tweaking and post if I find any more info.

I'm going to run some benchmarks (3dmark vantage / 3dmark06) to make sure everyhting's running okay.

    5654 3dmark vantage
    10778 3dmark06
