On normal this mission is just possible to finish without bonus but on hard its quite impossible.
I know that you need dozens of colossi and phoenix, but maintaining the gold minerals seems also impossible (which is a must to build an amount of units to stand a chance)
Around aprrox 1200 zerg kill more than 10 Hybrids enter the base and it's over.
The frequency of the attack waves leave no time to create new units in time.

Is there a strategy for this mission which is not too hard to pull off?.
I've tried to copycat the strategy used for brutal on Youtube but I'm unable to perform 20 tasks at the same time

I'm not trying to do this on Brutal but on Hard.

I think this is by far the most difficult mission of the campaign (the final All-in mission is a lot easier)

I did this on my first try and have failed on all-in about 10 times now, so yeah. I think this mission is easy - you just need to sacrifice the archives and move to highground. Make a few colossi but focus on creating a wall of DTs at the top of the ramps with hold position.

What I did was I blocked off all ground entrances by mass producing Photon Cannons.
Those Cannons should hold off up until the zerg masses start getting bigger.
I mean, you DO, start off with like 1000 minerals.
You have some High Templars. You can Psi Storm the zerg to make your cannons last.

And just move your Colossi around depending on where they attack to add the extra support.
I did this one in a few tries. I had the same trouble you did with making units.
So, I blocked off all the entrances.

And, you don't exactly need the gold minerals, I did the mission without having any use for them.
Though, I can see why it'll be tough to use them..
    Anyways, good luck!

this achievement is impossible I dont know what you want us to do. Blizzard just put it there to be mean, and all the people who "supposedly" have it are hackers

A few things I have to ask.
    - Are you getting upgrades? I always get an extra forge, hotkey both forges and the cybercore to ctrl 6, and get upgrades from them nonstop. You must do this or else you will get overwhelmed by 3/3 zerg forces while your units are still 0/0/0.
    - Are you using control groups for your buildings? This is especially important for your stargates and robos, so you can quickly select them and make more colossi and phoenixes.
    - Build moar probes, when you think you have enough then build 6 more.

Well I finally managed to reach the required kills (2264) on hard.

I just held of the first 3 waves (frontt-left-right)
Then retreat to the main base (losing the archives)
And keep making dark templars, stalkers + some phoenix and a few colossi, zealots when gas is low. (minerals is not the problem on this mission but gas is)
In the end i had all the upgrades except ship lvl3.

Maybe I have a lot of trouble with this mission cause i'm not used to playing with protoss.

    Thanks for the help

Really not seeing how this is difficult... I beat the thing on Brutal. Probably the hardest mission of all of them at that difficulty.

Wall off all of your entrances with Dark Templar then use your Phoenix to kill any incoming Overseers (which doesn't happen until fairly late in the mission). With the Dark Templars alone you should be able to keep the Archives then fall back to the high ground once you no longer need it. Use your Phoenix and Stalkers to take on the Mutalisks and make one or two Colossus per entrance. Also use anti-grav on Ultras and make SURE you kill those Overseers or your DTs will get eaten alive by the Hybrids later.

I thought this was pretty easy with phoenixes. Use graviton beam on the hybrids. If you get a decent force of phoenixes, you can run around lifting and killing almost all the hybrids. And build cannons and replace them when they die.

All you gotta do is just put DT's at the 3 entrances while the temple thing is doing it's thing. It's not until the 2nd or 3rd wave when detectors start coming around and to counter them just have a group of pheonix's and voids to kill them so the enemies can't see them. While you're doing this mass up cannons at the top of your ramp, then pull all your units back up to your base and hold there. It's real easy.

Yes I used upgrades (only lvl3 ship armor was missing)
And i was using control groups for the buildings as well.
During the whole mission I have a shortage on gas.(and more than 3 probes per geyser is useless)
Another problem is the graviton beam of the phoenix, when I have a group of 10 phoenixes under one key I can use the gravition beam only once unless I select them individually which consumes way too much time.

I managed to finish it on hard losing the temple, but not even close to finishing this on brutal or even saving the temple.

    @solar,

You can use gravitron beam multiple times while selecting all of your phoenixes. They use smart cast, so every time you hit the ability a different Phoenix will use it. Hence, smart casting.

There's really no excuse for not being able to do it now, we all told you exactly what you have to do whether its on normal or brutal.

    Ok thanks,

For now I'm satisfied with the fact that I finished it on hard, I'm pursuing the completionist archievement on hard for the Arcturus Mensk portrait, and this was for me the biggest obstacle to reach that goal, the rest of the missions are pretty easy on hard.

I will try Brutal or the Bonus archievements later (when I have a lot more experience playing Protoss)

That achievement was easy. I built nothing but colossi and phoenixes, got all upgrades, and constantly replaced cannons at each choke. Even got the archives done and still was holding the three chokes just fine.

But i had about 15-20 phoenixes, so I had all the energy I could want to lift off every hybrid and kill them with other phoenixes.

Currently trying campaign on brutal, but cant beat the mission with Maar. Either I dont have enough at beginning to attack before he gets too strong, or I take too long and the constant attacks keep me from getting a large enough army to attack the main base.

Honestly guys the strategy I used is something nobody here has come out with.

The hybrids do huge damage per hit, so use immortals as your front line. Stick collossi behind them, and then use phoenixs with graviton beam and for anti air. I build immediately two extra robo bays and I ended up supply maxed my army dominated so much. I saved the archives and got well over the top kill mark on brutal difficulty this way. No walling, and I built tons of cannons only when my supply was maxed. I didn't touch them before that. My army was unstoppable until the end when you reach the top kill mark they send pretty much an infinite army because the level is then pointless.

I didn't even use very many phoenixs though. I took what you start with and built just a few extras. They just needed to pick up the hybrids to slow them down, the immortals wiped them out easy when dropped one at a time.

I Figured that the archievement saving the archives can be done on every difficulty(even casual) and the extra kills for other archievements can all be done on Normal.

For the record, this mission on hard took me 12 tries before it succeeded, while all-in succeeded on the first try.
Both missions are about holding out long enough (till the artifact is charged or till the necessary kill are reached)

If I just could borrow the artifact from the all in mission for this one ;)

captainmorgan, I can't possibly see how that could work. Wouldn't the thousand or so zerglings they send every wave just tear down the shields of your immortals?

Oh wait, four robotics for mass colossi as well.... which of course just melt zerglings before they reach the immortals. Can't believe I didn't think of that.
