How do the protoss preserve the dead (some into dragoons?) if zealots or dts or everyone else pretty much, explodes in a cloud of blue smoke when they die.

How do lurkers send out spikes from underground?

Why do hydralisks need their scythe/claws?

What allows ghosts or civilians to breathe in hostile environments(I.E. Brood War campaign when you try to steal battlecruisers with civilians in space). Helmets? I don't see one (Kerrigan).

Why can't you merge dark templars with regular templars?

and Why am I asking these questions? To set up SC2 some room to improve, to explain.

    1. Their souls gets transported to the dragoon factory via airtransportation
    2. Tentacles
    3. To look cool, and also to be able to burrow
    4. They hold their breath
    5. They're changing that in sc2

Their essence is fused within a metal shell to continue to serve their people. This was stated on the Stalker's description on the official StarCraft 2 website, so we can assume that this is also the case for turning zealots into dragoons.
Burrowing beneath the ground, Lurkers employ the element of surprise by firing spines through the planetary surface -- with deadly results. These supra-dense spines are capable of tearing through flesh, steel-alloy, and even reinforced armor plating with frightening ease. Enemies trapped in the thunderous crossfire find themselves instantly impaled. -- Blizzard.com

Since they are evolved from the Hydralisk genus, it is safe to say that the spines can be launched with enough explosive force to pierce through the ground and more than enough to pierce through armor plating.
Hydralisks are seen in the StarCraft cinematics using their scythes in close quarters. It is also the same reason you would carry both a knife and a gun.
Ghosts are issued with a Hostile Environment Suit with a cloaking device powered by a personal Moebius fusion reactor and psionic powers (which stimulate receptors in the Ghost's suit). -- StarCraft Wiki

The rest... let's just leave it to the game. 8)
Because they practiced two totally different disciplines with different energies, but now in StarCraft 2, their methods and ideas have merged resulting in the formation of the Twilight Archon.
