ijffdrie's insane and nonsense babblings #7: the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya

lol, just started watching this series yesterday, finished all 14 eps already. its a very nice series, though sometimes a tad weird. The first episode is totally different from the rest, still hilarious though. still need to watch second series

style: anime
genre: this is really annoying with some anime, they dont really fit in any category. Usually i'd say sci-fi or fantasy, but there are only 4 eps where this really shows
subject: A schoolgirl who is interested in the aliens, time-travellers and espers(kinda like wizards) and creates a club to research this. But actually she is a god-like being, even though she doesnt know this, and created these things herself. An alien, a time-traveler and an esper then join her club(even though she doesnt know it) to stop her from getting bored and erasing the earth from existance


story: A couple of eps werent really part of the main story, but those that were were kind of cool. I'd say a B+

characters: quite some cool characters, though i'd like some more side-characters actually being part of the story. The girl that tried to kill Kyon only had 4 lines or so earlier in the story, and i think thats about as much lines as all the side characters got
B-

humour: the episodes that arent part of the storyline are a lot lighter and funnier then the storyline episodes, i really couldnt stop laughing the first episode. i'd give it a B, except the first ep which is an A

other stuff: if you first start watching this series, you should realize that the first episode has almost nothing to do with the rest of the series

 

I watched the first three episodes yesterday, it was ok, but then I realized the moments I found funny were too spread out to make it worthwhile...

So I watched the 2 hour anime Akira and it rocked. B++

started the second season today, am now at endless eight


not the first endless eight, but the second


being in a recursive loop for 8 episodes sounds kind of boring

 

I agree, the endless eight episodes are like the same over and over again however every time it always shows haruhi walking out the cafe and kyon always does not say something in the end, i was like SAY SOMETHING DAMMIT!!!

 

i have the same thing, but more with nagato not saying anything in the beginning and everyone doing nothing on the 31st

 

Well nagato is only there to 'observe' the different kind of situations but its all up to kyon with all the problems though

 

she interfered with the baseball thing and gave the second princess hint in the last ep of season 1

 

i loved that ep.....in fact i might watch that ep again sometime.

she interfered directly before, you could even say she interfered when she told Kyon who she was, it feels very lame that she suddenly stopped

 

No not the baseball ep, i mean the last ep jiffy

 

oh yeah, that one was great

i hope one of the new eps actually takes place after that one, so we can see how she deals with the information all that weird stuff exists

 

Yea, supposedly season 1 is still going on in season 2, until the disappearance of haruhi comes along that's when season 2 actually starts.

 

non-chronological stuff is kind of confusing

 

Heyho, its still cool watching it, i watched it in chronological order. i quite like the un-chronological order kind of stuff ever since i watched Memento and Pulp Fiction.

it was a fun series. i never got around to watching it in chronological order, but i think i got it sorted out in my head.

endless eight has ended, the only person who had it worse then the fans, who watched in 8 times, was a character in the series, who watched in 15674 times

the new ep is fun

 

Yea the ep is really fun, it seems that they're showing how the SOS brigade began their movie (episode 0 from the first season.
