we all played tons of installation maps and remember the extremely cool marine corpses from them, right? i think the terran should rather leave that kind of corpses instead of just fading away quickly, sure their corpses will fade but only after a larger amount of time. your ideas/opinions?
wouldnt that...err...kinda lag some computers if there is like..50 dead marines on the battlefield? remember bro some people cant afford super good computers.
I think it's fine having them disappear. The hit to performance and cluttering up the map wouldn't be worth it IMO.
You really should be able to choose whether you want the corpses to remain or fade away. Also, if there are too many corpses on the same spot, the oldest would start fading away, as having too many corpses at the same spot would look stupid. You should still be able to turn that off, as you would be the only one to suffer from it .
They were going for a T-rating: So I duno about the gore switch. And in WC3, though there was no corpse check box, in coustom maps you could goto advanced settings and change decay time. My guess is that Starcraft will be the same. Look at the game now. Its packed with great textures, reflections, light, you name it, I think disappearing corpses was a way to increase performance and allow older computers to play it, because as people have been saying, corpses would lag computers, especially on Bnet. BUT ijffdrie, I like corpses lying around too. When it comes out you can tweak maps yourself if you would like. I will be.
The main problem is, is that it would clutter up the screen and hog useful processing power. A blood stain that remains for awhile might not be a bad idea however, as long as it doesn't detract from anything.
I think a gore switch would drastically widen the audience of gamers. Heck, Mario's violent you go around jumping on monsters and killing him and roast them and whack them with turtle shells. But it doesn't have blood or corpses. I think Starcraft2 should have three settings. No blood, moderate blood, like Starcraft1, and EXTREME BLOOD for those who want to see their marines get sliced in half.
but that would still bump up the rating to a mature just because the ESRB is forced to assume that people are going to play with it on like call of duty 4 is rated M but you can turn off the blood
I know they get sliced in half. That's what I was saying. No blood might be jus them falling or exploding with no blood. Even if the rating doesn't go down, It will still appeal to those who don't like blood. I know a lot of people don't look at the rating.
