After not really playing any computer games for months I decided to upgrade my computer... because I have lots of money. I'll probably only have it for 3 months anyways since I'm joining the Navy but then I'll just lend it to a friend or something.

ASUS M2N-E AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570 Ultra MCP ATX AMD Motherboard
    XFX PVT84JYAJG GeForce 8600GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Brisbane 2.6GHz Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Black Edition Processor
    G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
    ZALMAN 9500A 92mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler
Acer AL2216Wbd Black 22" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor with HDCP support
Microsoft Windows XP Home With SP2B 1 Pack - OEM

    $731.74 total

oh and the monitor is amazing... it's like looking into heaven.

An Acer, eh? I've always been a Samsung person but Acer's not half bad either. Speaking of which, I need to get a new monitor. My current one is only 1280 x 1024 resolution.

    hmm...
"NVIDIA nForce 570 Ultra MCP ATX AMD Motherboard"
and a 5000+ core? if so then get the black edtion version or maybe the phenom
    and finally...
    "XFX PVT84JYAJG GeForce 8600GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card"
xfx cards have small fans and will be loud as hell, and GDDR2 memory is too slow, trust me, you wont be happy with it.
get the EVGA 8600GT 512mb GDDR3, it also has a bigger fan
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130290
but i think the rebate is just pass the date...

Good specs. I am a Samsung fan myself, but I know on Newegg that Acer's monitors are a lil cheaper.
