I think the battle reports weren't so good!

The producers are not that good at actually playing the game so i don' think people got the full experience from watching the video. It obviously will be a lot better on the days of release and afterwards so i mean why couldn't they hire or ask random players to run it?

    Don't they use actual players?

And it's more to showcase things, not be like OMFG MICRO MICRO MICRO GOSU KOREA SKEELS.

i HATE people that micro, anyhaways they were im sure producers and developers. I think for you to get honest to god feedback you need people who havent even seen it but knowe about it to play it.

  4. 1) Why do you hate people that micro? That's what RTS are about; especially, StarCraft.
    2) It's been confirmed that those people are guest testers; they are not developers or producers.

Do not quote the post above you

Oh i think i meant the commentators "MY BAD EVERYBODY". BUt i prefer massive collisions of unit dying constantly and they just keep coming and just enjoying the blood shed that ensues like supreme commander although there is no blood per say. i understand that, i mean im nothing but a RTS freak, but i want something epic everytime i play. or does micro mean something else?

You just shot down your own argument.

First you say that you want to see some good matches, but you hate micro... So a match without using any abilities being used, no warping, no nydus worms, no medivac drops, no deployed siege tanks, etc would make a good match from your point of view? A tad weird imo. :s

Micro is controlling individual or small groups of units to get the most out of them, and out maneuver your enemy in a fight.

YES Aurora ok i was wrong. But i meant that my preferred type of playing is in like Supreme Commander, but i do love all kinds of RTS's. I just have a preference and i meant in the videos they didn't give me an experience i expected from Blizzard company because they are known for pleasing customers, and i am one of them. I just expected a little more combat. I think it showed more the players style of fighting and not an example of the gameplays capabilities, i'm not asking for a trailer quality video but one that does better of proving what SC2 is better at doing. ( gameplay wise )

To show off a style of fighting you need to fight.

    Fighting = Combat.

    You wanted to see combat.

    Any questions?

I think what he meant is that he likes spectacular battles. Spectacular doesn't win the day.

I think SC2 will serve more of those spectacular battles, at least more than WC3 did with its 15-man armies.

But, in the end, skill > all, and skill is a lot of things, not just micro. Micro is overrated imo. Its nice but when micro is game-breaking i think the game starts to loose its fun. Cunning, scouting, planning should be more important.

  11. StarCraft is about being an RTS with skill. So, I guess it's everything you don't want, Lucratus. Why are you here?

What you are describing is where you basically an RTS where all you do is build a mass of units and click 'A' on the minimap and let the units do whatever they want to do. That's not AT ALL what StarCraft is about. That will get you destroyed quickly even in the most nubish of casual matches.

I'm hoping you just aren't explaining yourself correctly and don't really feel this way.

PS: If Blizzard tried to "please" you it would destroy everything almost everyone else likes about the game.

If you don't like microing, just play money maps. No one is forcing you to play competitively.

As for the battle reports. It wasn't meant to show EVERYTHING, just a sneak preview to what's about to come. If you want to see the game in its full extent, you'd have to wait for the beta videos.

I would have agreed with Lucratus but I don't agree with microing being bad.

But I do agree on the battle reports being lame. I did not enjoy them at all. They seemed staged. Its been said before but I thought they were poorly chosen and they did not have to add the commentary to them. The commentary just added to the feel of the videos being staged.

Hopefully the beta comes out sooner rather than later so we can see real videos of people playing the game.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Starcraft is a legacy. My father played ( R.I.P. ) and i remember playing in the slump we lived in back then when we were 10 ( me and my brother, brother was 8) . We were poor and the game was just magical, it was actually the first RTS i ever played and i went a couple years without playing and, forgot the name but didn't forget the experience, hoping i would find it. Then my dad died, family sent his stuff, and in a box there she was.....

my love of every RTS ensues after that.

TRUE. i would also, it's just this nagging feeling that i think they could've done a better job. I mean they're Blizzard for christ sake!

  17. @Lucratus: That's actually quite touching :D Hopefully, StarCraft 2 and it's expansions can bring you some joy!

    Hell Yeah!

  19. Stick around the forums until the beta and we can play some games if the beta client supports LAN or if private servers pop up.
