I don't understand technology

    Why is that a SATA cable is 3 gbps, while a high end HDMI (Which is A/V) can go up to 10.4 gbps?

    Its not the cable
    It's the whole interface.

    HDMI is unidirectional, SATA is bidirectional, and doesn't have to send commands.
    Also general purpose things are almost always slower than purpose built things.

    HDMI's bidirectional, else how to you expect to use it with a DVD recorder.

    Anyways, it's just alme.
