StarCraftWire.net recently uncovered some screenshots released to AMD in a graphics packet that give us our first look inside the Hyperion since BlizzCon 2007. There is also some released information about the potential graphics cards needed to support the game, but the information provided about that is lacking. Despite's StarCraftWire's assertion that the following comments made by Blizzard about the graphical specifications of StarCraft 2, these comments tell us nothing about the specs of the game.

For Starcraft II, we wanted to maximize compatibility with less capable systems to ensure hassle‐free game play for as broad a player base as possible. Yet we also wanted to utilize the full potential of any available hardware to ensure the game’s looks were competitive. This meant supporting a wide range of hardware, from ATI Radeon 9800/NVIDIA GeForce FX’s to the ATI Radeon HD 4800s and NVIDIA GeForce G200s.

The main information is these screenshots which depict detailed areas of the Hyperion such as Raynor's bar.

Check out these images! Click for a larger version.

Sweet, the detail of this game is huge. It looks like any next console game, glad to see that PC games are finally going next gen.

Jim's my favorite hero and it's kind of sh*tty to see him all down in the dumps, he better get well halfway through the Terran episodes or atleast by the end of 2.

The link to us isn't working =(

Also, the document does indeed tell us specs of the game, if you read the analysis here, you can all the information that this new report reveals, and if reading here, you can see the (so far) correct StarCraft 2 system requirements.

Indeed, this didn't reveal ALL the system specs, such as CPU and RAM requirement, but the most important stats, as well as how the processing will work. It's all to complex for me...

Also, a few more StarCraft 2 screenshots here as well.

Regardless, this is indeed interesting news, and odd how AMD got the exclusive, but didn't report it big. In a sense, we got it instead ^^

    Edit:
BTW, I dug it! Can anyone help me digg it more? =)

I know you guys are linking to them and stuff, but doing that is just low. I did comment on his page, so we'll see what he responds.. On the other hand, even though you link them, they don't link you...

Wow FX5500? That's old... and yet the CPU guesses are quite high (compared to the GPU) in my opinion.

Also, is that a cloaked ghost in the third picture? I love it!

Somehow it looks strange how Raynor is "sitting" on that bar stool in the first picture, especially his left leg.

My pc should be able to run it, not at max ofc but it should work xD

    @ Leord,

Sorry, a Blizzard employee giving an example of the range of cards that Starcraft 2 will accept is NOT a reliable indicator of the actual graphical requirements of the game. :p Please try again.

And I fixed the link. It had a root typo :\ whoops. Thanks for pointing it out.

No, thank you on that! I appreciate the response. :)

Ofc it's not an official statement, but if the people responsible for handling the technical aspects of the game says X, Y and Z cards is what they are working with, then I'll take that over "we have only said Pixel Shader 2.0" any day of the week ;)

The thing is, Blizzard have never before released such detailed documents on what they are working on. I would consider this highly reliable, it might even have been posted by AMD by mistake!

    @ Leord,

There IS no technical information as of yet, only what they're aiming for. The statement was not intended as a range of specification for the game. It was meant as a statement of what they would like to do.

It's the difference between me saying "We would like to make the game compatible with these cards" and "the game is compatible with this range of cards."

He was implying that they are exploring compatibility with a wide range of cards. I just felt that your boast that this "confirms" your specifications a bit premature.

    @ Joneagle_X,

I know what you mean, but they do talk about it in past tense, implying that the goals they set up were in fact reached. Ofc, you'll get an official spec sheet later to support this, but when it comes to pre-released games, it really isn't possible to get any closer than this. I can understand if you are just bothered by the word "confirmed", as some are, but as far as any information about StarCraft 2 specs are concerned, this is 99% likely what we'll have to work with. The word "confirmed" fits the situation a lot better than anything else I can think of, especially if one wants to keep a short headline.

For 99% of people, it is certainly not misleading in any way.

BTW, I dug the SC pics, I forgot to do that before. Can anyone help me digg it more? =)

Yes, I'm aware of the Starfeeder problem.

We will be removing them as affiliates.

Speaking of which, I'll be requesting help with an "affiliates" or "friends" box on SCW, and I'd love to share links with you guys =)
