The Hydralisk has an alternative attack animation when in melee range of its target, which doesn't affect game play. Pretty cool. Also, the Baneling's speed upgrade makes it roll. Somehow I don't like this, even though it's a good and clear visual cue, just like the Marine shield and Zergling wing. http://www.sc2pod.com/trackers/blue/
dude, are you sure banelings get a speed upgrade? As far as the BR 2 is concerned, it looked like they had the same speed as marines , which seems a bit slow for suicide units I guess!
Because they weren't speed upgraded... the same way zerglings weren't either. This is very nice info. Just proves that Blizzard will pay attention to such small things as the hydralisk melee. And since I got used to the rolling animation of the baneling I'm fully in favour of the speed upgrade resulting in change of animation.
oh alright then, thanks! thats some good info! PS: Kuvasz, I find your pictures scary as hell what do they represent?
I like it, but am going to split hairs anyway: what if the Hydralisk gets hit with the anti-gravity ability, and melee attacks an air unit? Effects to damage? The rolling animation is awesome, though. I hope to see more of these animations or model enhancements. Works a lot better -read: faster- then clicking the units. The more changes they make, the faster the game becomes. It seems that some tweaks are made just to archieve that. The enhanced transport options are obvious, but these small things contribute as well. @ Kuvasz ava and sig Scary? They look pretty cool imo. Still, who is that?
First off, as Dustin said it's purely aesthetical. Second, units remain useless as long as they're Anti-Grav'd. They can't attack, move, or anything.
[ot] My stuff represents beautiful malice... or something like that I just developed a venetian mask fetish and shopped together two pictures, nothing fancy. Though the sig needs improving I can already tell. [/ot] I really like these obvious tells of where your opponent is on the tech. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for very elaborate steps (4-6 different stages, increasingly getting similar to the final building with time) in Terran building construction, as well as other things that will provide crucial information to the experienced eye.
New idea: add some sort of sack to the Queen after the Larva ability upgrade. In the insect world, almost every queen has this. (Not really a dramatic gameplay improvement, but looks cool anyway.) Also: the coccoon of the Mutalisk into Brood Lord morphing: Anyone else who agrees that a floating coccoon looks strange? Maybe it should land first or something. -Making it attackable by ground, so the ridiculous power of the Brood Lord is more balanced as well.- Just any visual change would be great, as long as the base unit is still easy to recognize.
I agree with the cocoon floating in the air being weird. You don't see anything holding it there, and it doesn't look like the cocoon has little wings flapping.
I totaly agree, I like the idea that instead of the unit just doing more damage or going faster U can acually see the changes in the small Details. When SC2finaly comes out I'm ganna spend Hours just looking at all of the kool graphics That they've shoved In every nook and cranny
I don't find it strange. Guardians and overlords also float without wings. Maybe they are so full of gasses that they don't fall. :Þ Ontopic: I like the alternative animations. It gives more to look at.
Karune posted that the new infestor model may be in one of the screenshots in the upcoming screenshot batch and it is in the game right now link: http://www.sc2pod.com/trackers/blue/?id=1495
I think the queen has that ability from the start and doesnt need it to be researched. Also, the larva is created by the hatchery, not the queen. The queen just uses some special nutrient she produces to force the hatch to morph more larva.
