Don't see it? Look at the second pic where I made it red.
What is it? Isn't it a little too big to be the mothership's defense shield ability (whatever the name. On second thought; is it even in the current build?)

Maybe it's a new Archon ability. If you look at the Archon he's doing some weird motion and he's at the center of the circle.

No, they are not. Check the high resolution version, it's clearly an indicator for an ability, much like what the sensor dome has or whatever it's called. The thing is even on the grass, so it can't be ripples.

@Wlck: I don't see any archons, just an overloading phoenix.

It's not an Archon WIck, it's a Phoenix that uses it's ability! :D Maybe the circle is the Overload's range.

Oh, pheonix, my bad. I thought it was an Archon. In that case it might be a Nullifier ability like Null Void or something.

Yeah, it looks like the Phoenix is using Overload- I think the circle is a range indicator.

I don't see any reason to mark the range of an attack. It's not like it can hurt your own units and you'd need to keep them out of the circle since overload targets enemy units only. The only thing I can think of is that the Protoss player has null void selected and is about to hover the mous over to the Terran units.

Don't know what's this. Surely something big, important. A defense ? An attack ?

Anyway good job from you Gasmaskguy to have found that

i think that its either a range indicator of the Phoenix attack, OR it might be the Ghosts energy detect ability, the Phoenix might just be flying over the Ghost, as to why the Ghost is right among the Protoss army could be that they have no detectors and its trying to snipe any High Templars that are around.

It cannot be the Ghost's energy detection range, it was said to have a very long range, reaching a good bit into the fog of war.

no i think that was the Radar / Sensor Tower that had that big of a range. doesnt matter much. we will find out sooner or later because of Q&As where Blizz. answers it just so they dont have to answer something more important. =P

Why wouldn't the Ghost have a long range?! That circle is of a regular vision size, it would be completely useless to detect energy-users that close. The Ghost's energy detection is bigger than that, believe me.

I think its perhaps a indicator for the phoenixs overload abbility. Its at least something showing the range for an abbility, like the one with the sensor tower. I saw some sc2 games live broadcasted, and when you clicked on a sieged tank you would see such a circle too!

I hope its a range circle.
Every unit needs an attack range indicator.

When I can see where I can shoot and where I can't gameplay becomes less iffy

Siege Tanks with range indicators? Sweet. Did any other unit have that?

I really hope that isn't a range indicator for attacks. Even a small group of selected ranged units would create outrageous clutter.

All they would need is to combine the circles into two shapes that shows the combined range of the group and cut off any parts of the circle that are inside.

The Perimeter would be where at least one unit could attack and inside would be a light color overlay that darkens with each additional unit that can attack up to 5 so you can still see the ground. It would be similar to how Pylon power fields show up and get darker but once you have 3 fields overlapping it doesn't get any darker

    Why?

Just because I don't want to use a 10 year old interface?

I suppose wanting to queue up multiple attack orders and god forbid have one of the orders be an ability makes me a newb too?
