I've been coaching my friends who are in silver/gold and I noticed something. A lot of people watch videos and replays which is a great way to learn decision making and builds but they miss the important thing.

When watching replays, you need to watch the minimap! See how fast they see drops coming or just incoming attacks. Watching replays can make you lazy when it comes to always looking at your minimap.

This is the main part of seeing how players react to what you see on the minimap.

Also when watching replays, you need to sometimes watch their camera view or POV. See how they macro, and their mechanics. You will notice that they barely look at their base. Take notice of how they setup their Groups, don't necessarily copy them but get some ideas from them.

Follow the tech paths they pick based on what they know.

Notice the player's building placement. I see a lot of people in platinum and under, they often love to keep their builds "organized" in a pretty fashion (SIM city style). The reasons why this is bad:
    - if organized too tightly, it might be harder for you to reinforce into your base in case of a drop. Keeping gaps is usually a good idea.
    - keeping all your building too close together make it easier for your opponent to see what he has to snipe. Keep your tech buildings away from each other.
    - placing supply depots/pylons at the edges of your base, gives you an extra second or 2 to react when an incoming air attack is coming.

Keep production tab open, for you will learn what to build at given situations. No other tab is important.

    Good Luck
