How to counter Zergling + Muta as P

I always get steamrolled with the speedlings and mutas.. even though I have plenty of stalkers and sentries and zealots to prevent the zerglings from killing the stalkers..

And also, in one game the zerg was one ONE base the entire game while I went for an expan a bit later..

I denied his natrual TWICE. Had 4-5 gateways pumping out units..
Should I have gone sentries only? or no stalkers? How effective are sentry zealots vs that?

I also had like 3-phoenix in the early game to kill overlords, and then the mutas spawned and isnta-killed them!!!
I thought the Phoenix was ANTI-AIR!??

PS: Would mass archons be a good idea?

A couple of sentries and zealots will easily roll zerglings, you need stalkers for the mutas but they are not very good against the zerglings, but if you have a good combo of zealots stalkers and sentries that should do the trick. Next you should get immortals to fight the inevitable roaches and that should be the end of the game. However phoenix is definitely a really good counter to mutas, you must have not seen the anti air building or he had many more then you.

+1 upgrades to atk will do wonders, most people don't realize it, but +1 ground make zealots two hit lings instead of 3 and sentries can focus down mutas with guardian shield. +1 sentires do 9 dmg, which is > than 7 dmg that mutas do when guardian shield is up. Also sentries are cheaper than mutas, if they are stupid enough to fight head on, you should win. Pheonix are there to quell harassing mutas, and +1 helps them a lot too since they have bonus to light.

yeah, sentries are pretty useful. if you can catch them at a choke and wall off half the lings with force field, that's an easy win. sentries are also pretty good against mutas... guardian shield practically guarantees it.

Thanks for the help guys! Going to mass sentries + zealots next time with attack upgrade!!

PS: Noticed that he had researched +1 arm and +1 wep, no wonder he won that time.

I am having the same problem dealing with the speedling/muta push. The zerglings get all but wiped out by the zealots but the mutas seem to beat off my sentries. I had +1 to atk/def but they usually have +1to air atk/def.
