Obviously we don't know for sure but I'd like to see what everyone thinks. So far I have been very impressed with SC2 beta. It's amazingly fun. Keep in mind that I have played SC1 on and off since 99 (god im old). Even though I have BFBC2, Dragon Age, Borderlands, Bioshock, Batman Asylum, id still much rather play SC2 beta over these. The beta is just a tease of what is coming. With tweaks, graphic enhancement, new maps (especially UMS) this game will better... but how much better will it be? I remember playing the Diablo II beta a while ago and everybody was so hyped for the gems. But when the real game came out, gems were garbage! The beta only revealed 5-10% of what D2 had to offer. Apart from the new maps including UMS maps (the zoom in feature will be great for RPG) and single-player missions, what will Blizzard do to enhance the games? Will the graphics be improved?
Because of the extreme balancing and tweaking needed to make SC2 a balanced, competitive game I don't think there will be any major changes to the multiplayer. I imagine most updates will deal with Battle.net features, balancing, bug fixes, and maybe even some Galaxy Editor updates. I doubt they will do any graphic updates, at least not anything beyond minor model or animation changes. Most content changes will come from the expansion packs.
From what I read on the beta forums, Blizzard are working at the moment to balance the game (as said above) and get the OS X client to run as smoothly as the Windows one does. I don't think the graphocs will be improved. I just think they will be optimised so the game plays better.
to say the truth i noticed that with every patch update the game runs smoother and smoother....like one day i had 35 fps average on ultra settings and the next after the patch i had like 50...same map same game
Agreed. I was getting 10 fps on medium setting and now with the latest patch I'm getting around 20. So it's much better now.
Thumper, download Catalyst Control Center from the following link: http://ati.amd.com/products/catalystcontrolcenter/index.html I am unfamiliar with AMD cards but you should be able to force AA in SC2 through it.
The only problem with forced AA is it seems to take a lot of FPS away - just something i've noticed with games over the years. I also have an 5850 but I don't mind the jaggies too much since its an RTS.
i don't think they'll be changing much for release... the beta is really to balance the game, test the b.net ranking system, and just fix little bugs.
