i kknow many of you would rather see WoW dead, then alive. But be realistic and estimate how long this game will live

why would we want WoW dead? It's Blizzard's main income and as long as it is successful, it's less likely that they will look for other ways to make money(b.net fees, etc).

WoW just reached 11.5 million gamers. Seems it was saved by WotLK.

Casual gamers tend to stick with an MMO for only several months and then leave, replaced by new gamers. Probably a lot more than 11.5 million people have played WoW, and then moved on to other MMOs or other things.

Blizzard is working on a new MMO, which we basically know nothing about. Assuming it can replace WoW, it'll be the WoW-killer, ironically.

One more expansion, if that long. Casual players will be leaving and since WoW is old there will be less new people coming. Large part of the non-casual players are sick and tired of the same thing over and over again so they've either left or just gave Wrath a chance and will probably leave soon.

Unless they do something really revolutionary in new exp, there will be a drop in playerbase, but they don't really have to if they're making a new MMO already

As long as Blizzard updates it would be a guess, but on the other hand, grafix outdating is a fact too. So I would say 3 - 4 years. And why should we see it dead?
    1. point: more money for starcraft 2 / other blizzard games production
    2. point: we avoid all those retarded 8 year old kids in starcraft 2 other blizzard games.
(ok there are some retarded 8 year old kids in warcraft 3 (DotR8yearoldkids)

I have a strong feeling that the "secret MMO project" is either already close to completion, but they're taking another 4-5 years to polish it to make it even better.

The reason for this is because Blizzard will NOT kill WoW with their own MMO. They will wait till WoW is milked dry before moving on. I am also assuming this because Blizzard appears to be killing off all the major characters from Warcraft. For those of you who plays Warcraft, then you'll know what I'm talking about.

It makes sense for Blizzard to kill off the major Warcraft characters. Not only are they finishing up the story, and cutting off the main story branch, but it allows side stories as well that are completely unrelated and new to the original warcraft. That being said, WOTK is probably the last or second last expansion. Blizzard will probably release patches to finish WOTK up, like killing Arthas etc.

Once the WoW story is all said and done, and their profit from WoW is dropping, then we will see the emergence of the new MMO.

It is possible that the MMO is not completed yet though, with all the other games Blizzard has to deal with, it's possible that Blizzard has only a very small amount of people working on the game.

WoW will be around for 15+ years. its been 2+ years and the game hasnt changed, still continues to grow. Their 2 expansions didnt add anything except 1 new class, 1 new race, 1 new lvling area, and things that fly (woopeee). I played it once when it came out, quit. I did a month recently to see the changes, quit. If you dont like it now, you never will.

Besides look at Lineage.. game is 2d, first MMO ever of its kind, 15+ years old still has updates for it all the time.

IMO only another MMO would be able to kill WoW, which would likely be made by Blizzard, as other companies have tried and failed to gain WoW's popularity.
