This cool How Its' Made episode talks about the production of video games. It describes the way characters are created and animated with movement and voice acting. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/v/K_5Ob-Z4Iek
I actually watched this episode. This show is pretty awesome. They show things like bowling balls and things all the way up to computer chips. It's pretty schweet.
Love computer games (who doesn't?). It's amazing how much time and effort it takes to produce every game. Can't imagine how much the software must cost that lets them produce images and allow them to move them freely to create such detailed animation. Just imagine what the people would think in the 40's and 50's if they knew those roomsized computers would eventually change into something people could play games on with others.
This is interesting stuff. Well, in a SC2 forum it is highly unlikely that someone that doens't like video games will actually post saying that they don't, right?
*bumb* Never played it. I never knew making video games took so much planning before the game is even taken into the design stage.
i dont like computer games....................... LOL, kidding, so now i see why it would take a long time before sc2 is released
Yeah ;D, they need to figure out all the details before they can complete even the most basic graphical designs. Because Blizzard likes to make their games as perfect as possible, the design stage can take years to work out the story line and characters/units. I never realized there were so many step to the design phase, basic 3-D models of the unit, refine movements, add texture, add background, create extremely smooth animation, ect.
Blance is great for Blizzard games, which is why it makes so long for them to make games. When the balance is off, they have to go back to the drawing board to figure out how to change things to make the game more balanced.
