how good are you?

I was wondering how good people are in sc1

i haven't played sc1 in a long time, i only started playing again when josh invited me here......

and i found a huge discovery..... IM A FCKIN NOOB! i can barely win. let alone a melee fight against two or three comps.
if it was free for all then i had a 25% chance of winning, and i cant win using the other races, i can only win if i used zerg and built a number of guardians and lurkers.........

lets just say I'm more of a map maker than a player.............

how about you???

 

I can usually win against 2 or 3 computer players in a free-for-all, can barely ever win against 2 allied computer players, and can't against 3 or more allied computer players. Out of my mates that played StarCraft:Broodwar, I could beat them all of them the majority of the time, but one of my mates is able to get the better of me when he gets a good start. I don't ever play against other randoms in the chat rooms and stuff, so I don't think that I would be a great player, but I'm definitely not a noob. I play as Zerg most of the time, because I find them the most fun to play, but I am best at Terran.
It was really funny in one game, where I decided to make nothing, and I mean nothing but Zerglings (excluding Drones and Overlords). I absolutely massed as many Zerglings as possible, and purely defended my base with Spore Colonies. So freaking hilarious, I purely overran my opponent with masses and masses of Zerglings before he had time to react and build masses of Firebats or Siege Tanks to counter. Ahhh.... Good times. Almost makes it worth re-installing StarCraft and BroodWar.

 

I can win...barely....
But facing computers are way too easy

 

i can beat 3 comps

i once joined a super pro korean game and we (our team) just won...

so i guess im an advance player...well......inbetween advance and skilled..lol

 

So so... Because I'm playing SC since 1 week ago... But skills from other RTS games don't make me total n00b ^^

 

yea me too, and im still a pro in DOTA anyways

 

I'm skilled. But I never played online so I can't really tell.

I just found my discs so I quickly installed it and had a go against 1 random computer player and was smacked down ;D I can't remember the last time I played so it's not much of a suprise.

Here's a test measurement:

Until you can beat 7 computers in melee mode solo, you shouldn't be playing on battle.net

 

I would say joneagle can probally give a better judgement of my skills than me (considering i have only really played 4 games on b.net 3 with him). But awhile back i was pretty good with a number of UMS maps but infortuneatly they are very different games.

 

I'm surprised no one said that they're godlike yet, hmmmm......... how about our leige? sc2forum? how good are you sir? or how about the other mods? GM_k? Imagine???

 

Perhaps we should let the people we have played say how much we suck

wow joneangle, could u beat 7 comp? because truth is ur right. I suck at bnet ... i could do fastest fine actually. btu that is not that good, o and ums is also fun. I should like to see u play.

 

I consider myself a soso player.

I know the basics and match-ups for every race pretty well. I can play all 3 races decently. But I'm far from been a good/pro player.

As for the 7 cpu thingy, I sure hope that people don't use that as an example for your skill-level. Cpu are too predictable. Even if you can beat 7 cpu, it doesn't really mean you are a good player. Lots of people can beat 7 cpu with np but against real opponents, they still struggle. That is because real opponents can think and adapt to situations while cpu's just do a set strategy every single time.

BirdofPrey, to be honest, I wouldn't rate you very high from a scale of 1-10. No hard feelings :-\.

I am so-so, 20 b-net battles, 7 wins. My record isn't great, but at least I was able to win a few.

 

@ Ych , I was just saying that before you attempt to play on b.net you should be able to defeat 7 normal computer opponents united against you.

At that point at least you have a decent grasp of the concepts and unit strengths in SC.

From there you would need to completely change your gameplay style and orient it more correctly for more the more aggressive playstyle needed in online competition.

Ych9 and I could be considered to be.... relatively close, I guess.

I would rate BoP as a 3.

I would rate Kerwyn as a 4.

Ych9 and I would probably be a 6-7 on a scale of 10. 10 being pretty darn good (not pro).
