How fast is nydus transporting? In the game it's takes almost no time at all to transport your units from one side of a map to the other but does anybody know the speed lorewise? How long would it take to get to the other side of a planet? Terrans can fly there in planes and Protoss have recall which is instant (in-game anyway) but I have no idea about the zerg canals. I haven't read any of the books, not sure if there's any info about it there...

That's what I just said MC. What I asked for was how fast nydus travel is in-universe. Is it 20km/h? 30km/h? 50km/h? Does anybody know or have a good guess?

Lorewise, the Nydus Worm is likely to use thousands of muscles to build up immense pressure inside its tubes, squeezing the Zerg units from one point to another, perhaps even in hypersonic speeds. A Hydralisk has 4000 muscles, and they can shoot their spines like a Marine shoots a round of bullets, imagine how fast the Nydus Worm with its size and length.

ONE HUNDRED BILLION DO-...muscles. Yea I would have to say it would act similar to the hydralisk firing its spines, however it may get a bit uncomfortable for whatever is getting a ride if they get stuck... It could have a pair special "esophagus" organ that pumps out the zerg...things out, I would guess at about 3000-5000 feet per second.

Haha I can see it now... bursts out of the ground launching a flurry of stone and flora. Roaring and before locking itself into the earth beneath it it rears up and stops. It lunges in multiple directions rasping and coughing and falls to the ground, dead. A marine crawls out of the mouth. "damn it all wrong pipe".

The nydus canal has never been mentioned in lore outside of the original manual. One could lead to an interesting combat scene in a novel, however, IMO.

The nydus worm pushes units so fast because it has over 9000 muscles!

    Viking: "Help, 13 flying Banelings!...*BOOM! x 5*
Thor is surronded by water in base "This is >insert name here< here this areas safe....WAIT! WHAT IN THE WORLD! flying Banelings coming fas....*BOOM! x 10* ahh, bearly survived that oh no!" 3,000,000 Banelings unburrow 2,999,985 went to his base the remaining blew him up.

A baneling launcher would be awesome.

I yearn for a game where you can do creative things like that

You mean like endless possiblities of creating and doing things that are fun to do, complexity to make the game difficult and some things that are so unexpected that they take your breath away?

Hayden and Ronin, this is a serious discussion in the Zerg Units and Structures section. Your stories are Space Junk material and should be removed by a mod or by yourselves.

Its instant but i think the mechanic works where only so many units can be in it at one time then you click on which canal you want the units to come out of and they will.

By Instant Transport, you mean Instant Teleportation. Nydus Worms unload 1 unit at a time, like any normal transport, except without having to move itself across the map in the first place.
