what? il go with both. we need outstanding 3d graphics modeling, sharp and smooth. graphics sound? unit voices, background music, and animation sound should rock bigtime too.

at the moment the graphics looks ok, but i hope they will still going to improve it. (anyway the demo gameplay of the protoss is low quality so im not really sure.)

I'll love the art style of the graphics in Starcraft 2, looks very smooth crisp and original. I'm sure it will run pretty smooth as well. (Assuming you have a good enough computer)

now now, excellent graphics do not a great game make ^^

Starcraft pretty much threw that in everyones face, but at the time for an RTS, they were pretty kickass.

Yea, I think I read somewhere that any single unit in SC2 already has a higher polycount than a WoW character, which sounds purty schweet.

Also, I don't know if this is able to be achieved at the current moment, but my dream for SC2 has always been that its graphics could match up with those of D2, where a ghost could look as good as an amazon running around and such. That'd be pretty amazing to see. I think when you were playing D2 on B.net, you sometimes saw a line of units from all the games in the Blizzard Universe while in a chatroom/channel, and occasionally you'd see a really awesome looking Marine that was super smoothed out and kind of dark/moody lookin'. I thought to myself, oh man, if SC2 units looked like that when it came out it'd be just ungodly.

From the demos 'n what not, I don't think they're quite there yet, but I'm still very happy with how it looks. Also, I'm VERY glad that they didn't sort of go WC3 on us with sort of this super deformed rendition of the units. The big headed units that pranced around in WC3 actually sort of made the whole world slightly hard to take seriously actually, and also the colors were just too vibrant and such. For the most part, the units in SC2 so far have looked very proportional and pretty badass.

oh yea. the first sc had great graphics for it's time, and i still think those are better than the piss poor cartoony look of wc3 and WoW. SC2 is also very serious looking. My god the detail in the protoss is so awesome. I love SC, more than warcraft and more than diablo.

I think the game looks great (hate the ugly Reaver) What could be nice is a bit more detail on the texture.

In my opinion all the games I've played that are made by Blizzard have unique graphics, that add the typical ''feeling'' to the game. SC2 I think will not be exception. the graphics look truly awsome so far, not only because of the quality. Also because of the feeling while you're watching it. If you find a way to describe it, go ahead :p

It's what I expected and fine for the type of game. Which usually has a lot of units, no doubt Blizzard optimized the infantry for spammage.

You don't want to look at things closely to see how good the graphics are; that's like taking a small picture which you say has "good quality" and making it bigger. That won't help, because the resolution will be worse.

    Uuuh wut?

You're saying if I looked at something under a microscope it'll look worse? That only happens if you use MS Paint to enlarge pictures.. any other decent program doesn't suffer resolution dampening... And its a game not a photograph.

I think they have the graphics down nicely. At any rate, it looks about right for what people would want. Truth be told, almost everyone who actually plays games doesn't have the time to check if each marine has an indivdual face, with distinct markings or diffrent tailored shirt. That kind of detail is more of a waste of time than anything. So right now, it looks fine.

On the matter of graphics mattering they all in all will cause a game to make or break in the market. Sc2 graphics are killer to me imo, but that being said it still does not account for the other factors which make it a game great. SC1 was a great game for a multitude of reasons. Not just because its graphics were unique or they were better than any out on market. SC1 has and will continue to in SC2 have a great storyline and lore behind the Universe we have implanted ourselves in, but it also had great strategic and balanced gameplay.
With that being said as well, SC2 will make or break based on what category of gamers Blizzard decides to make peace with. Wherever Blizzard decides to take this game it will still be SC2 and unique for its own reasons aside from that it continues were SC1 left off. Taking this into consideration Blizzard will need to put top priority to a few things aside from the killer graphics as this is not an RTBS(Real Time Balance Strategy) or a RTS/w balance included. It is an RTS , so, it will nevertheless aside from the balance that plays in to all RTS's be a RTS that requires strategy supported by balance not balance that is supported by strategy. SC2 should make people think, not, memorize each unit stat until there head explodes and that of the unit that can efficiently mop the floor with that unit.
One last thing is this is SC2 not SC2: 1000 Years later, so, old units still will exist, but , they still are not the same conscripts they were before so expect some old friends to be returning. Its SC2 graphics are killer and units should require more than just balance and a new array of units is not what the doctor ordered although it would be nice. :-X. -ShdwyTemplar Out

I'm sort of torn... the terrain is outstanding. A lot of the terran units though don't have that gritty dark feeling that they used to which really dissapoints. I love the protoss animations... the 3d colorful look makes them seem very vibrant.

The ONLY units that I don't like in 3D are the Mutalisks and the Zerglings. The Nydus Worms and Banelings are just fine, but the Mutas look to chunky and not slimy enough and the Zerglings have...wings. Yeah, I'm not sure what that's about.

why is it the units and structures dont look like their part of the background like doodads in most games, unfortunately in starcraft 2 too.

well if you notice the nydus worm in the demo it looks like a part of the background environment(which is COOL) etc and not a 3d model pasted on it like all other units etc. yes the nydus worms looks realistic and part of the environment which i think future units and structures in RTS games should be.

im not sure tho, i think pc system graphics now are still not capable of making units look more part of the environment. OR is it because of the color patterns detailed on each units making them look separately from the background (<-starcraft 2).

if you notice the doodad (with holograms), barrels, the mining terran thing, and the dropship in the ground in one of the screenshots look realistic and very much part of the background. why not make all units and structures look like this in starcraft 2?

its the same with console games. if you remember PS1 games like resident evil and final fantasy etc has cool realistic background and the character you are playing or even the NPC looks like STICKER or not part of the background. only metal gear 1 was good enough. same with PS2 games but much better.

and now comes the new powerful consoles. PS3s kilzzone metal gear solid 4 etc. looks so breathtaking, the detail of the playable character is outstanding and they are very much part of the environment.

maybe the new consoles are more powerful than the most powerful pc nowadays. i think they use blue rays and not dvd anymore. hhmmm..

anyway i cant really ask for more now, starcraft 2 still looks GOOD! and starcraft 2 should be a 2 dvd set. ^^

i know all my complaints will be solved when starcraft 3 comes out. hahah.

    *EDIT*

my mistake. cause the banshee looks nice with the environment specially in space platform.

i think the COLORS has something to do with it. or the color of units is one reason why they look like they are just attached on the environment.

    *new topic*

i like the look of the trees in starcraft 2. i hope those leaves have animation movement cause by winds etc.

I think the graphics are best where they are; in other words, I would not really mind if they released StarCraft 2 with the graphics which are shown right now. I'm afraid people who buy games based on their graphics are gonna pressure the folks at Blizzard to work more on the graphics. To me, it's mostly gameplay, and a new StarCraft.
