The drop ships really get to me. Them things do not realistically show the containment area where the cargo goes (there is no place in the ship that shows as the cargo area). What's up with that? The same way other units show where the weapons fire comes from (e.g. gun, nozzle) the ship should at least look "fat" enougth so that it holds cargo. I mean we are going to be looking at drop ship units all the time when the game comes out. We deserve this much.
Don't you think this is worthy a subject?

:) You see how much effort I put into this.

An overlord isn't as big as two ultralisks (in StarCraft I at least) and in SC II, the factory might be smaller than the thor.

Air units are generally a lot smaller than they should be; they are not to scale.

Especially with the drop ship having the role of infantry support as healers, would you want a ship as big as 2 siege tanks to be in large numbers on top on your units?

  4. Why are ALL your topics like this? Gameplay > Lore

Dropships were frickin' huge in the StarCraft Alpha and it was a pain in the ass. Why not just have it so if that dropships dies it kills everything below or make it so you can kill units by lowering a building.... Yeah! Realism > Gameplay!! Death to gameplay!!! Long live realism!!!

I think gameplay > realism cause if you can kill units by landing on them... lift cc lands on probe line. gg lol

anyway, if you looked at the BC, it's supposed to be the size of a small city, but on the map, it looks like it would fit maybe 10 marines.

The Science Vessel is supposed to be the size of an entire level.

Ironically, in the Starcraft boardgame, the Science Vessels are smaller than any other piece, including Marines and Zerglings.

O.O, Eon you know that that isnt the original message to that pic right? *shudders, from remembering where he first saw the pic* also:

by the way this still isnt the original message to the pic

anyway yeah, if you try to add to much realism to any game, the game dies because its not fun, most people have fun playing games because they are not based on reality as we know it.

  11. I appreciate people making topics but, seriously, every topic he makes is about how [insert something gameplay related] isn't realistic and should be changed even though it would ruin the game. Thanks for trying but.. please.. get different subject matter.

    Also LOL @ pics

If you still think size is a factor then think about this.

Bullets cant explode command centers. But in SC... they do anyway.

Well technically a gauss round could penetrate a reactor and cause a meltdown or something :p

    Yeah, gameplay > realism. Always.

From bullets outside the walls? Talk about major construction flaws

Probably worse than the Death star and the alien ships from Independence Day :)

I first thought this thread would be a medivac rant...

I think he does have a point, compare the SC1 Dropship with the SC2 Dropship and you'll see a decrease in mass.
The Overlord might not be as big as two Ultras, but the Overlord is still relatively large, because it's shaped like a ball. The Medivac is about the same size when viewed from above, but it's ridiculously flat as a transport. Stack two or three Medivacs and there you got an Overlord.

I wouldn't mind if the Medivac's cargo area gained some hight. Width and length are ok as people have said, air units are small to not cover the screen. But increasing hight would make it look better while only covering a small area.

  19. Hopefully, there will be plenty of cinematics and cutscenes to show the proper proportions and "realisms" for certain things in the universe. Then we could just pretend that gameplay = gameplay :) and gameplay =\= what really happened.
