I hope SC2 will be something more than what i've read and seen. We've all waited a very long time for this game and I hope that updated graphics, new/merged units, and hero units are not the only things Blizz has up their sleeve for this game. I'll prob get flamed for this post but I really don't care. Someone has to voice this opinion and I doubt I'm the only one that has it. So far the content just hasn't wowed me.

I just hope SC2 is not really SC2008/2009.

    Flame on.

    welcome to the forum ;)

I hope Blizzard will take its time to create THE best RTS of all the time. They already modified the textures of the units and structures, and THAT was important for us to get a modification.

Insanity, could you elaborate on what you would want?

Apart from having better graphics and interface, there will be new mechanics, which will allow for a greater number of strategies with a similar number of units/abilities.

A "better" game is not a game with more stuff, it's a game where you can do more.

Apart from visual updates there'll be new mechanics, map editor more powerfull than the one in wc3, completely revamped campaign style and possibly more
And there won't be hero units - possibly as an option in map editor, but not in regular game.

I'm not flaming you, but what more do you expect? It's not easy to make something completely innovative anymore and especially in a sequel where you are limited by previous game.

Why are you trying to explain those things to him? If he really wanted to, he could've made that list himself and would've realised that SC2 is going to be huge.

I actually deleted the rest of my post because I didn't want to sound like a fanboi :p

I'm sure that Blizzard will make SC2 better than SC1 since people are expecting a lot from it.

SC 2 is already better than SC1.
I hope it will be better than all current RTS games.

I'm as much a fan boy of Starcraft as any of you are. I want SC2 to be great I want it to blow me away. But I guess Marcus kind of sums it up in his post. "I hope it will be better than all current RTS games."

"It's not easy to make something completely innovative anymore" is an excuse. One I hope that Blizz will not fall prey to. Blizz makes outstanding games full of fun that are extremely polished; this we all know. And most of their games are industry leading or groundbreaking on some level. I just haven't heard of anything really new ya know. I d k i guess I'm just looking for them to blow me away with some great new feature or something. I know it will be as fantastic as we are all hoping I'm just looking for something that will set this game ahead of all the rest aside from "visual updates" and "new mechanics". Map editor.. eh. I'll prob never use it because i don't have the time but I'm excited to see what the rest of the community does with it.

    Wait a minute... Hero units?

God I hope you mean hero units in singleplayer such as Jim Raynor, Kerrigan, etc...
WarCraft has hero units. Let Command & Conquer and StarCraft be without them, I say.

For the opinion part I can't agree with you I'd play this game even at this stage it looks really neat.

For the part about elaboration of new concept I totally agree and hope just as you do that Blizzard won't sit on their arse and sail on the success of SC1 to get sells for SC2.

We have 2 posts asking you ideas about what you think should be added. It is good to give your ideas, as they may do real impression on the community eventually reaching the production team (maybe...). Yes it is their job to create the game not ours. We can only contribute with our opinions and support but if we don't who will?

Having only expectation from them is being at the same level as Blizzard toward their own team:''They are employees and must deliver a product''.
Supporting them is being part of the community.

Starcraft 1 is up on the scale, and we all know SC2 is going to pass that.
And nothing beats the lovely RTS with futuristic rednecks, infest-happy slimeballs, and perfect warrior aliens.

    Now onto the topic:
Starcraft 2 is so different from Starcraft 1 it's awesome.
But yet at the same time, it's almost the same thing.

Willy's Summary - It will feel extraterrestrial when we're playing it but at the same time, it'll be like staring at a sibling.

About the campaign we saw Jim Raynor, Kerrigan, Zeratul and some new heroes, but we didn't see Artanis yet and my friend Samir Duran. How will they be designed ? Very well surely :)

Then what exactly would "wow" you? Squad units? WMD's (for all races)? Another playable race?
Remember, SC is THE RTS of all time, featured as a major E-Sport and even in documentaries on discovery channel. SC2 Has new mechanics: the engine can support far more units that wc3 and sc, more complex computer/unit ai, and new units = new offensive strategies + new defense strats. That's already a lot of change. If you're looking for EXTREME changes it the game, it would hinder the E-sport quality and upset tons of people. The goal is to create a better SC that's completely different, but also keeping the SC game play to preserve the sport. Imagine how pissed off people would be if they changed soccer/football rules so much, that it's not even the same sport. But if that's not what you're thinking, then I'm stumped on what you desire o_O.
