I don't think HTs really need an attack, since they're meant to be casters. I do want them to have another offensive spell or ability, though. Maybe something like a ball of psi energy that homes on the target and does large splash damage, similar to the Reaver's scarabs. It could be kind of a substitute for psi storm when facing groups of fast moving units, such as cracklings, who can avoid a psi storm easily. It might be a little OP, but still, I think it's a good idea.

regular attack seems good but it should be weak to the point that if he actually ends up needing to attack he's screwed anyway

Give it a symbolic attack like the Peons have it. He has hands he should be able to punch something.

If templars gets an attack it should have long range. A bit more range than Tassadar has in SC1. At close range the templar is dead when out of energy.

Hmm well High Templars already have 2 skills (hallucination not being one of them as it has been given to the Star Relic) Psi Storm, and that crystal encasing skill similar to that of arbiters. They could stay the way they are now, or they could give them an attack. If they were to get an attack though it would have to be pretty weak so you couldn't just mass them, because they could just encase the static defense and kill off the enemies army with psi storm and then finish off the base with their attack. I'd be ok with High Templars having an attack, just not too damaging, maybe like 5 and added with a slow attack rate. They would be able to at least kill any lingering zerglings after a psi storm. Although most people wouldn't leave their High Templars alone so there pretty much fine as they are now. Cause it doesn't matter in my opinion if they get an attack or not it will only allow HTs to live for a tiny bit longer.

And yeah they could just reuse Tassasdar's Psi Assault attack.

    -lol typos again.

if high templar gets an attack then the deflier will need an attack as well.

so why would these former zealots forget how to attack? They moved up in the order of the Khala to be high templar, that doesn't mean they forgot everything else they learned. I think they should have an attack, but I don't think it should be very powerful.

Storyline wise the science vessel is just a flying labratory and the nomab (i think) is just a mobile shipryard used for repairing. Also the defiler (i think again) would have a hard time attacking because of the various apedages it uses for its abilities would make it very clumsy at doing anything physical. While the high templar are zealots that have become more Powerful in its psionic abilties. Why would they forget how to fight?

As for balancing the protoss (in SC1) had way more castable abilities than the other 2 races had and one of the protoss casters had an attack (the arbiter). The attack the high templar would get wouldnt have to be very powerful but getting one would continue to help make the protoss race more distinct and continue the races theme. (a small number of powerful units)

I think that giving them another ability would be good enough.

Here in Hungary we have got a free expansion set for SC. It's called Huncraft, and there is a new unit for the Protoss Called Psi Templar. It Can attack, and I think this attack ability would be useful to the high templar.
I can't prowide screenshots now cause the website isn't availible now..

I didnt know the huncraft mode was finished. By the way, High themplars used to have ann attack in stracraft 1 beta, just like defilers. It was like tassadar's but only dealt 10 damage. I think they should be given the same one again, for symbolic pourposes. Its supposed to be a powerfull caster, it should have a small magic attack, like WC3 casters.

Yeah I forgot about that. Tassadar was a high templar and he got an attack! Really, I know he's a hero and all, but it just makes sense for the ultimate warriors of the Khala to have an attack. Seriously, for real. They did not spend all that time in basic training only to forget how to attack when a zergling popped up in their faces.

    If I remember good:

    Health 60

    Shield 60

    Cost 100 50

    Supply 2

    Built from Gateway

A range attack with a damage of 20

The attacking looks like a ball appears in the templars hand, and also on the target.
Oh and it is also a detector. I used it for first line base defence- In front of the cannons, cloacked by an arbiter.
