Battle.net member Superfux recently discovered SC2 images and text referenced in some code on the new battle.net site. After he posted his findings, one of the images that said "Pre-Beta" changed to "Beta". Here are three of the images:

At first i thought it was another hoax but if you view the links on his forum post it actually is legit.

    Enjoy,

So there are images of what it'll look like when it's beta time. I heard there were a lot of images found. Now everyone is talking about wanting to hack into battle.net and steal the copy.

  5. Yeah, that's been up on StarCraftWire.net for a couple of days now. It doesn't really mean anything.

    No. Just no.

That's all I have to say.

Yes i would say so because a beta is such an early edition of the game and the files arent finished so that can create some problems for example: slow gameplay, p.c freezing/crashing, not able to save anything. The last beta i had was AOE 3 and my p.c crashed 2 days after word

  7. Nope. You're wrong. No offense.

Logic would prove it but what REALLY proves it is the limitless videos of this game being run at special gaming conventions for many, many hours straight on wide ranges of computers and that wasn't even close to a beta.

Plus, any problems you had with "AOE 3" was probably your computer or your own fault; not the game .. unless it simply crashed as in you got a blue screen. Games don't just "screw up" your PC.

Sorry for being short with you... I guess ...

No problem i love arguing over computers instead of at school were people argue over sports and that b.s

  9. Sports is BS but computers isn't? Okay ..... *walks away*

Anyways, a beta isn't going to ruin your computer so if you get the chance; for **** sake, TAKE IT!!!

But i some how have a feeling that this is a joke and its not real and sports arent b.s but when your in highschool and have classes with jocks you would understand

  11. It's probably real but it doesn't mean anything. But, either way, if it were true it's already really old news by now.

But, with the way StarCraftWire.net's been reporting lately, that's a pretty big if.

I wouldn't concern myself with it too much. Its just code, its not going to break your PC. If it causes crashes its most often because of a memory leak. Patching all the code together doesn't always go smoothly. But like Tychus said, with it running so smoothly at this point I wouldn't expect many problems with sc2 beta. There is the possibility that new stuff could cause issues, but that sort of thing is easy to notice. If the game sucks up an extra 500 mb of ram everytime you build a marine, that doesn't go unnoticed for long. So any issues like that would like be the fault of something else on your PC. But at this point its a little early to discuss problems that we don't even know exist yet lol.

Erm, the beta is supposed to cause crashes... That is what they invented the whole beta concept for.

People download the beta to get an early look at the game, but they are actually just thousands of debug testers that Blizzard gets for free. They WANT your computer to get messed up, or else you will not report the bugs and just keep playing. -.-,

  16. Ummmmm .... No .... Maybe in MMO betas but not in betas like this. StarCraft 2 is already pretty stable since it's been at so many events. The reason for the beta is for balance, gameplay-related feedback, and for testing Battle.net's stability.

If the beta was only for bugs then we would've had it years ago.

(By the way, I'm playing along with the fallacy that video game software can mess up a PC)

I was talking about betas in general.

Most games will indeed contain more bugs then starcraft 2 because, like you said, it has already appeared at a lot of events. However, all of the demopods were high-end computers in a LAN. I highly doubt that when thousands of people with different system specifications and internet connections get no bugs.

Also, battle.net 2.0 will be tested to its limits when everyone starts playing starcraft 2 beta. The game may be pretty good already, but I do not think it is in optimal network condition yet.
For all we know, everyone might get extreme lag in certain situations. Or get an error when someone disconnects a game. You cannot possibly predict how stable the beta will be outside blizzcon events.

  18. Of course, it'll have bugs. That's not the point. StarCraft still has bugs and I actually ran into one playing the campaign the other day. But, regardless, that's not the point.

    A. beta. can. not. mess. up. your. PC.

That's what JD1994 was saying and you agreed with him from what I can tell when you said "they want your computer to get messed up".

I never said it can do actual harm to your system. It can only make your computer crash.

I have had my computer crashing when playing full versions of games, which often causes it to restart. That can mess up downloads and whatnot. I do not think he meant that the game could actually damage your system itself. That would be absurd...

  20. Okay, so you disagree with him then. No problem there.

But, yes, he did say that a beta ruined his PC two days after using it. Unless he's just terrible at clarification and didn't understand what I said despite being painfully clear he did believe that a beta killed his PC.
