Hey there guys! I was trying to give a shot at a couple of matches with Zerg(which I haven't played at all on SC2) and while it seems like an awsome race mechanics-wise, it also seems much more complicated than terran or protoss, due to the fact that you have to manage Larvae and Creep in addition to other stuff that other races are doing. Thing is that zerg need the creep spread around so that they get their army mobile, and much more importantly manage their larvae correctly. Things like makingn too many lings to defend against a push or making too many workers or getting too big an army without using it seem like something that causes zerg to lose as they waste larvae that could be spent on workers, on stuff that goes unused and that can lead to an economic downfall, mid-game. On the other hand, managing larvae/creep efficiently could lead to some great play, and the race seems quite awsome and dynamic to me, especally later in-game. Doing a good macro and working backwards on your mistakes to correct them works but takes loads of time. If any experienced zerg player would like to add some tips on these things or make a guide to help others it would be great and a big help to lots of players trying zerg. Personally I'll stick with toss and terran as they've always been my favourite races and I never liked zerg(for being the dirty/drooling things that they are, as mechanics-wise they are awsome), but I was chatting witha friend last night about them and thought I'd check around for such stuff as larvae etc. Cheers!
Control group Queens, hot key is V for spawn larva, scroll through queens and hit V then click your hatchery. Once you do this a lot, it becomes 2nd nature. For spreading creep, the more creep tumors you lay in an area, the faster the creep spawns. If you lay 3-4 you can spread creeps very fast. Again, this just becomes 2nd nature. It was a pain at first, but now Im used to it. practice practice practice.
Slightly off subject, but it often pays as you hit the mid to late game to build a second hatchery in your main base aera to increase troop production. Also for refrence a single hatchery can have up to 19 larva each if you keep spawning larva. Not that usefull when your building troops like mad, but good when you hit the popalation cap and want fast and numorous reforcements. Simalarly it typical pays to keep spawning on your more cheeky expos which you don't want to give away the postion of ,so when you really need reforcements you can get them and have them attack from a unexpected direction. Yet another use of stocking larva is that you can keep your option opening when your scout hasn't reported on what kind of force your going to need.
