My brother likes playing zerg. Im a noob because i just plainly suck at starcraft. He keeps on using the lurker/hydralisk tactic. Or he goes mutas. What should i do??? I tried soo many ways to beat him using terran or protoss( im not a zerg player). Though i keep losing. Now i dont mind you calling me a noob or whatever, but at least put forward a suggestion to help me. I hope im in the right section....
Protoss Shock him to death with templar psi-storms if he uses any of those tactics.. Terran - practice timing first your building time (same with protoss) then maybe you can par with your brother more evenly... if you want to make a little surprise for your brother why not bomb him with vulture spider mines for defense if he tries the lurkers and hydras then change to goliaths with upgraded missiles if he choses to go for mutas... but if your brother is a pro and ussually harasses your economy korean-style then better try other players first with average level b4 going pro
I must agree with freedom23, go to early factory, scout what your bro has, and that should decide wether you shall go for vultures or goliaths. Also if you find chokes, siege tanks in siege mode can be useful, yust don't let the hydras get near. Mines and Vultures shall do the work. Also Buy science vessel, with irradiation. If he stacks mutalisks, irradiate some of them. also do that with lurkers or hydras, but beware, not to let the irradiated unit into your economy, cause then you are also damaged! Tell (PM) me if you need any more ideas, I've got plenty of them. Also with protoss, there is corsair against air, and combination of high templars, speed Zealots and range Dragoons against anything else. If you don't manage to bring an observer to the field of battle and he digs in lurkers, just blind-storm the places the spikes come from. Always be self-confident, the Zerg may have more units but yours are stronger. I don't say that this is instant win, it is also the matter of luck, and some micro skills, which you will learn I hope/think For a last advice now, I would say: don't forget to upgrade! whatever you choose, try to get at least 2 upgrades, first for the weapons, than shields. Upgrades are not the first thing to make, but if you think you have enough resources than upgrading is the second best idea. (the first is to book down an other expansion ) These are my ideas, and I also have a question.. How many workers, and expansions do you usually have during a match?
mass carrier ftw. ^^ or just micro and take care of your units, know when to attack, when to retreat, and know what your opponent is doing.
Never stop making workers as it allows more effecient expanding. Science Vessels with irridate own Zerg when Hydralisks are not around, just make sure you irridate the Science Vessels and move them above the Zerg units instead of directly irridating the Zerg units. Don't forget your macro also, make lots of production buildings. PvZ; I find it useful to Zealot rush and wall the Zerg into their base as they really need that expansion and once they're getting slowed down you would have expanded and you gain a large upper hand. If you're feeling cheesey take his expansion lol.
Well it usually depends on a map (mostly lost temple ) Though i know you have to continuously make workers. As for expansions, i usually only take up the mineral patches near my base. Hey, great suggestions, thanks all for your support!
I'm mostly 'toss, so.... Against Hydras, upgraded Reavers. Against Lurkers, upgraded Reavers+Upgraded Observer Against Mutas, Corsairs Against both, Carriers, Reavers, and Observers
Maybe, but it depends how early... Too early (1-3) zealots he has sunkens that are pretty much all around and through his drones... Too late, he has enough hydras to micro agaisnt my zealots. I should practice my micromanagement.
@Carriers. They would have a way more sizable army of Hydralisks before your Carriers could do much. To fight Hydralisks to need lots of Zealots, and yes Reavers work well. If you're gonna send Zealots in a Zerg base when he had Hydralisks and defense you need speed upgraded Zealots, Dragoon back up is always helpful. Also if you're going to Zealot rush, start attacking when you get your first Zealot, do not let it die, kill off some Drones and make sure you never stop pumping them in his base. But most Zerg players would rather go for Mutalisks than Lurkers vs Protoss due to the fact they get easied by Reavers and Dragoons, so have those workers backed up with like 3 cannons and some High Templar/Archon. Lurks only really work vs Protoss when they are tech rushed or used with good micro.
