Just a short post to say Hi Got a few questions to ask, hopefully I'll post them in the correct places ? I'm most likely one of the older players you have on your list, but hey don't let that fool ya  Loved the original Starcraft and played it recently again just before this came out. ( had to do the graphics fix for it to work!) Now completed the 26-29 levels and got score of 1140 - not sure if that is good for an old man or not ? I have played online 2 or 3 times now against freinds and won, but they where complete beginners so nothing to boast about there. Not sure what I want to next really - other than achieve more points on the missions - like destroy 4 zerg swarms on Zero Hour - lvl hard or prevent them capping a gas Alter on Welcome to the Jungle lvl hard ?? Anyhow must go and clean the kitchen before the boss comes in - later RaynorUK
Hey raynor He's my favorite char in sc (the raynor of old that is) I'm prolly one of the youngest ppl on here (Although i've been playing sc since 2000, a bit on and off). How 'bout trying ladder? also, is this is a graphics cards UPGRADE? cuz if it it.......oh boy....upgrading a graphics card to play sc1....*cough**exits*
decide what you want to do tbh, achivement points dont determine skill so i play ladder mostly, but as an old school wow player i dont like achivements on any game, they dont give you anything but e-peen, skill comes from practice agasint real oppenents imo.
I'd say do what I did after I did campaign. Jump back and forth between custom game melee and the campaign. And then just go to the ladders after you get decent. Pretty much what I did.
Hi All Hey - Thanks for the replys Got me thinking - as I did try Battle Net many years ago - but I seem to remeber that when I joined a game - played for 30 secs then the other player left - earning a point ? I'm a fairly good player of the COD series and played in many Clan matches etc - so I understand all too well - knowing the maps, strategys for a map and your opponents and team play. Suppose I'm not sure if I could transpose shooty tatics to this game. I've past the two levels in my first post - but reading some of the forum posts it's all BRUTAL tatics etc lol - way past my level of play - done only 6 map thus far ! How would I start playing Ladders ? do you have to join clans here ? or play as single people ? I just need to start reading the forums and try a few options - I've got a few friends that like playing this sort of game - need to see if I can get them intrested too ! Regards, RaynorUK Sorry for the spelling - lol
Insanity That was the name of the best ET sever ever in the US - belonged to a Clan called SH*TSTORM they moved on and developed a whole new format to the old game - upgrade was called No Quarter mod - but as they worked on this - it killed the old server and it's family - sad - that's why I left the clan. Anyhow I ramble on - thanks for the post - but just how old are you then ? Wait for it - I'm 47 this year - ANYBODY OLDER HERE ??? Regards, RaynorUK
raynor just play quick match. quick match = ladder now. try out some custom maps, too. thats why the galaxy editor is so powerful. and im going to turn 15 this year. on the winter solstice. or near it, actually, since that date isnt fixed. ever play iccup?
Alright, here's a few tips Raynor. First off, before you piss off any of the admins on this site, you may want to stop posting multiple posts at once. All you have to do is click edit if you want to continue on with a something that you didn't think of earlier, type it in and then click save and it will update on the thread. Second... The best way to really get good at something is to find out by yourself before you follow other people's advice. Experience is the best teacher my friend. Iccup was a sort of ranked league for Starcraft Broodwar where the serious melee players went to find games for a few reasons. One being there was no latency meaning units responded instantly when commanded and there were anti hacks set up as well. Was for the pro gamers and those trying to be pro gamers. As for clans and such.. With the destruction of the B.net's channels and chat rooms in Starcraft II there are no longer many clans around if any at all. I think there may be a few but they are more like groups and such that are close friends. Like Team Liquid...I think. The closest you can get is just playing custom/league games until you find players that catch your interest and adding them to your friends lists. That way you can play with them when they are on in parties. Plus it just makes it fun, specially if you all have mics. You'd be surprised how you make friends on here though. I've had rage matches with enemies in games and end up befriending them afterwards after an argument dies. As for your FPS skills being put to use in a RTS... Fat chance bro, sorry to say. Sure it may help with your reflexes but I'm pretty sure they both use different parts of the brain or something. Completely different mind set and the strategy involved in FPS is much lower than that of an RTS. I say this out of experience. Way back when I used to play HALO 1 for PC and was one of the top ranked guys in online multiplayer. It made very little effect to none in terms of my Starcraft Broodwar skills. I'd let you practice against me but if you are on the UK server I can't help ya out.
