Hello everybody here at Starcraft 2 forum. I have recently made a casting channel and I have made around 10 casts by now. English is not my first language and I have been a bit nervous, though I think it is going better than the first one I made. I wanted to try and make a casts just for the thrill of it in the beginning, but I have come to actually enjoy it a lot. Every day I wake up, I hope to improve my casting and upload more videos. I love starcraft so it is very easy for me to use a lot of time on the commentary and thus improving. I was wondering since, I primarily only have had feedback from friends and national viewers. It means a lot to me if I could get some feedback from the core english speaking SC2 players on what they think. That is why I am making this thread, hoping that you guys can give me some valuable points that I can improve. Please do also be honest. If you think my english is too weak for commentating, my voice is bad, lack of flow or whatever, please do say so Im posting the link down here for you guys to see, and if you have time for a comment or two that would be awesome^^ Thank you in advance Nik http://www.youtube.com/user/TheLokiStarcraft?feature=mhum#p/u/1/C-1E2ZgNjus
Watched your latest(?) one. I don't think there's anything wrong with it that isn't wrong with others' casts. Even the better casters like HD tend to describe what's happening nowadays when they used to analyse the things (which a caster should do... we have eyes, we don't need descriptions). So here you couldn've mentioned the fenix buff as the reason behind the tendency for P to opt for air. You could've also mentioned how P waited until the ovie died before putting down the stargate. And the zealot-sentry combo isn't exactly peculiar if you consider the stargate - you could've mentioned that sentries are to block, zealots are to save gas, which you can use up with the stargate. I don't know how much game experience you have but a caster, in my opinion, should have a very good understanding of the game, while their voice and accent are secondary. Your game experience didn't come through in this cast, so you should either let loose your knowledge and speculation or delve into the (meta)game more. Pay attention to building placement, unit composition, build order, and timing. You can even talk about groups if a player uses a layout you think is interesting to note. I often felt that most of what you said were fillers. Try avoiding those by going deeper into the things and express yourself slowly and accurately - no need to rush and in fact you might not need fillers eventually if you do so.
