Activision’s influence on Blizzard and the StarCraft 2 trilogy/release date Strong strong allegations... I don't like Activision either and I can see them interfering. Thoughts?
Counterargument: http://www.wowinsider.com/2009/04/12/activision-blizzard-is-not-blizzard/#continued It never fails to amaze me how many people misunderstand the trilogy. Vivendi (Blizzard's old publisher) must have been evil to split StarCraft into two games, forcing you to pay extra money for a new campaign and a measly seven extra units, creating a massive community split that lasted until this day... Oh wait, people liked Brood War. We're just looking at unfounded fears here.
Au contraire, StarCraft 1 had all 3 races' campaigns present in it already. Brood War was an expansion, and a exceptionally good expansion too. Personally, I hate RTS games that only have one side of the story. I remeber Dawn of War had that and it annoyed me because I really didn't enjoy being the goodie Space Marines. Personal preference is personal preference though.
I personally believe (miss south carolina ) that there is nothing wrong with the way they are doing it right now! 3 in depth campaings, faster release, what more can we ask for?
And don't forget that DoW had like....more than 3 expansions? and The Sims had tons. Its quite obvious that Blizzard is getting mysteriously bullied
I doubt that blizzard would restructure their whole development process for making games purely due to a whim of their publish/partner. If blizz thought that such a decision would ruin their reputation they wouldn't have made it. Besides this way we get a far more detailed campaign in a much shorter time. Plus activision brings alot more assets to blizzard meaning they can better survive in poor economic times such as now (They seem to be one of the few large publishers out their without large amounts of debt ). However the french own activison so it must be evil "Runs out to buy acti/blizz shares "
According to some Blizzard employees, the trilogy idea was finalized before the merger. The trilogy idea is a blessing to many fans so if Activision had anything to do with it then I would like to thank them.
I'm pretty sure each one is going to have like... 2 - 3 discs. The campaign's sound huge if you can go about them how you want but still have the same ending. So many choices... so many cinematics... so much data...
