Alright, can't believe there isn't a thread about Halo 3 in general, so here goes. How do you think Halo 3 will measure up to the previous 2?

I haven't played the beta, or followed much of the news around it, but I just checked on IGN, and it looks damn good. I'm not so sure about the new controls, one thing I really liked about Halo 1 and 2 was the simple and effective controls, which were easy to grasp and intuitive. Use of the X button for the equipment seems kind of clunky, as well as using the bumpers for reload. Still, it'll kick ***.

Halo's pretty much the SC of FPS's, at least in terms of intended gameplay. Halo is mostly meant to be for multiplayer, as is SC, along with some other games such as Counter-Strike.

    More than just gameplay.

Tall bipedal race controlled by religion, and using ancient technology, including blades made of pure energy, who eventually split into two factions....Who am I talking about, Protoss or Covenant?

A mysterious completely organic alien parasite that absorbs genetic code and is basically the bane of all life as we know it......Zerg, or the Flood?

From what I have researched, the power of the 360 gave Bungie a lot more to work with. a LOT more.

In the previous Halos, in the Campaign mode, the backgrounds you saw in the game *example: New Mombasa when you are on the bridge and the beach* were basically portraits. In Halo 3, those backgrounds are actually part of the landscape you are on. The 360's horsepower enables them to create a much larger drawing distance, around 18-20 kilometers, as well as altitude wise, where they are able to create multiple cloud covers.

This has also been integrated into the Multiplayer. In previous Halos, the edge of the map was either an inscalable wall or an endless chasm. Now the developers made the maps more open, and the edge of the maps are surrounded by these automated turrets that open fire on you, should you stray too far away from the battlefield.

These are also a smorgasborg of new vehicles, including a human aircraft to match the Banshee. The most interesting vehicle, though, is the Elephant, the largest vehicle in the game. It has an AA gun, a mongoose on its underside, and can store two Mongooses, a warthog, a scorpion, and 12 infantry. The ultimate kick in the crotch: it is only available on one Multiplayer map, and acts as a base, in which it has the flag on top.

Yup, the vehicles and maps, as well as the weapons were what really turned me on. (Not in that way)

The biggest irony about me starting this thread is that I don't have a 360. So I'm hoping that they'll make it for PC. I'm not going to buy a 360 yet. Don't ask why.

My buddy was in the beta. He won't shut up about it. It makes me REALLY want to get into the SC beta, so I can rub it in his face.

Here's another thing about the Halo Multiplayer maps.

Blood Gulch and Coagulation will not be making a reappearance *As far as I know*. Anyone whoi has played a match on Xbox Live knows that these maps were dominated by the snipers, with all that open road and little cover, Bungie made a new map called Valhalla, which is supposed to be the new Blood Gulch. This map has been designed so that it has a very largwe variety of terrain, so that there is much more balanced gameplay.

As for the weapons, there are a lot of new faces, as well as familiar ones. For Halo 1 fans, the assault rifle is back, but it has been modified so that it has a smaller clip size*I think it was 32*, fires slightly slower, but is a lot more powerful and sounds more menacing. I also heard that both pistols from both previous Halos will also be available, and the Ragin' 'Roids Pistol from the first Halo will be toned down a bit. There is a new weapon called the Spartan Laser, which fires a red laser of death that can instantly bake a warthog. Its effect on larger vehicles is unknown. The Brutes will also be showing off their own brand of weaponry, which are, as a developer from Bungie stated, "High Tech, Low Brow." Just about all their weapons have huge blades on them.

There have also been tweaks to some of the vehicles. The banshees now have the ability to fire Fuel Rods in Multiplayer, which was not possiblwe until now. The Wraith also accomidates a second person, who has access to the machine guns on it, which was only AI available in Halo 2. The Warthog has another variation, where the gun mount has been replaced with four additional seats for infantry transport. In case if any of you didn't know, this was one of several modified concepts of a Warthog made in the development of Halo 2, but it never made the cut, along with the Mongoose, a human ATV.

I'll post another update tomorrow after College Class.

You put your hand up on your hip, then I dip, you dip, we dip. LoL! Sorry that just called for some sensual lyrics. Anyway, StarCraft 2 is not in it's beta stages yet because Blizzard has not released a call for Beta Testers -- or has it?! --

I just want to finish the storyline with Halo. It's immersive. I think I will go order Halo 3 now.

Halo is a solid FPS that incorporates all the good a FPS for a counsel should have with very little innovation, at least at first. The story line is above par, the weapons are above par, the maps are above par, but the controls and lack of blatant bugs makes it a good shooter for xbox, of course nothing on the mouse.

you cant duel weild needlers anymore (or i need a new 360 controller), but they kick ass on their own anyways.

there are two 'missile based' weapons now, rather than just the rocket launcher. the new one is the missile pod which is like a fast-lock rocket launcher, i has a clip of i think 6, and each locks on in about half a second. also, its carried like a turret, with third person view and slower movement speed.

the rocket launcher is still its 2 round clip, but the lock on time is increased by about a second.

There's the fuel rod cannon too, although I don't know if it'll be usable in multiplayer this time.

What's with the split battle rifles this time? What's different aside from the scope?

I consider halo to be the most overrated game series outside of final fantasy. Final fantasy may have more or less made RPGs on video games, but lately has done nothing new or innovative at all. Don't even get me started on what I think of halo though. I'll just say Half-life 2 for the win. And Team Fortress 2 for the win as well.
