Half-Life 2

Anyone else a HL2 fan? Cuz I started playing this recently, and I remembered just how good it is. Believe it or not, my favorite level's "We Don't Go to Ravenholm." It's scarier than most levels, or so people say, but I haven't noticed the difference. I had too much fun ripping zombies into pieces with sawblades and stuff anyway. ;D

 

Hey I like HL2 but I think in it's time HL1 was a better game... In fact it is my 2. favourite FPS
And I agree that all levels are the same scary: you have to pay attention where an enemy pops up

 

explosive barrels ftw . Gotta love the priest in Ravenholm right? Well fast zombies scared the crap out of me the first time i played it, now i have fun throwing items at it with the gravity gun or crowbarring it Hunter if u liked the first half life better than try this mod is it comes out http://www.blackmesasource.com/ . its a big mod so still many months left though. They made amazing progress though. Being a HL2 fan is something to be proud of but the wait for episode 2 is killing me. Also the other games than come with it. (team fortress 2, portal *drool*)

 

I love HL2 too.In fact I'd liked the super charged gravity gun---I love to be able to suck people up close and lunching they to mid air...gotta love the combines.

 

wow Reven home was fairly scray spacialy when i had my earphones on on full blast, even a lottle critter scared the hell out of me. Cant wait till the next episode !

 

oh i loved that level it was so fun to mess around with. I mean u have this upgraded gravity gun that now allows to grab combine guys I had fun throwing them into the walls and making them bounce. Ep 1 was damn fun as well. The beginning u already started off with that super gravity gun. Throwing combines into the core made my day. Though lowflife was kinda scary. Burning them with flares was fun though. (the sadistic little me)

Who here like striders though. Those things that annoy u unless u have some rpgs around and give an intense battle.

 

Oh, yeah, I loved the last couple levels as well. 300 total points in health and shields, lol.

I once took down striders with RPGs and SMG grenades once. I never imagined it to work. My favorite enemy is either a Zombie or an Antlion Queen. Probably the Queen is better. Have it ram into a wall and blast the crap out of it.

 

Hmm i think u mean antlion guard . But ya making it ram into the wall is pretty fun. I tried crowbarring it once that way once. Was pretty scary once it got it regained enough consciousness to attack u. i mean u can hear it chasing u abt u headbutt u hard.

 

Yeah probably one of funnest stuff in HL2,easy too.Let it bang hard on its head and just keep firing the shotgun,can't say it ain't fun cause I can do it all day if there is more than two/three in the whole game.

 

Ravenholm would rank a 7 of 10 on the scary ass level scale.

Try playing Doom 3 at night with no one else there. That will get your heart pounding. Sh*t jumps from everywhere, quite literally.

I like the Gravity gun. That and Counter-Strike source which is basically a mod of the same game engine. But otherwise it's not all that great of gameplay. But it's fun for an hour or so on multiplayer. You can set up a little mini-fortress with the automatic machine guns.

 

Doom3 huh? I never played that game before =X but I guess its fun since so many players claimed it as one of the scariest games out there...is it?For now my vote goes to System Shock...

 

Yea... you try it. I remember some scary ass new crap with every level.

Later in the game there are these huge mammoth like things that I would consider similar to Ultralisks. They make this growly sound that seems to come from everywhere and if you don't get to a corner where they can't get so you can shoot, bad things are done to your rotting corpse.

Imagine being in a dark hallway, all lights are off in your room, and you hear this low roar. Not sure what it is. Suddenly the realization hits and you realize you're dead in under 10 seconds if you don't have something reinforced. Now imagine that you know what it is. It's a f*cking Ultralisk, and it just spawned down the hallway. No wait, it's 2. 3. Sh*t.

Plus the entire premise of the game (pretty obvious) is that hell has been unleashed (literally) on Mars. Makes me want to play it cause I get chills.

There are also these doomsday guys that charge at you with whips. They're unstoppable unless you can hit them into something eletrical. Or use a plasma weapon.

 

Oh sounds dreamy.I never wished for a momster to my with my in-game character's corpse and I certainly never heard people say they play scary games just because it gives them chills,so your the first.The whip guys sounds like s&m guys in porn films and you really can't stop them from whipping someone...

 

I play horror games for chills as well. Why else?

you guys are going to call me a loser but i never played ravenholm or the beginning of sandtraps... i just used the cheat. it's a great game though.

I never use cheats. It ruins the integrity of the player and the game.

I suggest you play it. It's fun for the experience.

 

Yeah,its fun but sandtrap basically suck cause of the time it takes for you to finish it.

OMG, sandtraps. I absolutely loved that mission. I got bored of using planks to get across the beach so I ran all the way there and shot the sh*t out of the antlions when I got to the pounding machine.

 

hahaha... i was going to try doing that once... but yea if i were to chose my favorite mission it would be sandtraps with a close second that was nova proxo or whatever it was called. the gravity gun usage in sandtraps and the boss was fun, and god... it was so satisfying to command your own squad of antlions!
