I hear Mac OSX only supports specific hardware; online I found a "hackintosh" configuration that works for sure: Motherboard: ASUS P5W DH Deluxe CPU: Core 2 Duo RAM: 4GB Corsair GPU: Nvidia 7300GT Here's an article on how the guy got it running: http://lifehacker.com/software/hack-attack/build-a-hackintosh-mac-for-under-800-321913.php BTW, checking Apple's website, it appears the most advanced GPU they use is the 8800GT. My guess is you shouldn't try anything higher. And as far as the CPU goes, the fastest dual core they appear to have is 2.7GHz. I guess it probably doesn't matter, though. I'm sure you can put an E8400 in there if you want, since the functionality of the CPU has very little to do with the OS.
I'm not building my own system, I'm actually trying to get it to run on a config I've already got. I've got it installed and such, but can't for the life of me get the Wireless to work.
Again, I think the whole thing about "hackintoshes" is they only support specific hardware. But if you already have it running you should probably know that. Maybe the hardware you're attempting to use isn't compatible? I would try looking at mac support forums.
I will stress this only so much... make sure there are proper Drivers for your hardware. I.E. video card drivers, sound drivers, ethernet etc. Make sure your board can even be used :O
Flip it. A PC running on OSX. I was looking to dual boot Windows 7 and OSX but ended up not being able to get all my ducks in a row.
