I know the guardian shield stop 2 damage from all incoming fire, but there are a couple things I don't get about it. First off, if Im using sentries and zealots, against marines, the zealots have to get right next to the marines to fight, so that both the enemy marines and the zealots would be inside the guardian shield. Does the shield still reduce damage even if the enemy attacking is within the area of the shield as well?? Also, is it possible for the shield to reduce damage from melee attacks? ( like if my zealot is right inside the shield and the enemy zealot is right outside)
The Guardian shield does not protect your units from enemy units inside the shield - but if you're going up against mass marines, some of the marines will be inside and some will be outside, and so you still receive less damage overall. It also makes it much harder for the marines to kite (move and attack) your forces if they have to do it while also staying inside the shield. And no, it never protects against melee damage.
I thought it worked against ranged units within the field as well. Also as it does only work against ranged attacks, even if it did protect your enemy as well, the zealot damage would be unaffected by it since they are melee units.
All ranged attacks within the bubble are reduced by -2 damage but it only applies to enemy units. So as long as your units are in the bubble, it's effective. Even if the enemy is too.
Wait does the guardian shield stack?? Like can I have a stalker inside two overlapping shields and damage to it is reduced by 4 or inside 3 shields and damage is reduced by 6?? and etc....
Would it make any sense? Use 5 guardian shield and you can walk through mass roaches / hydras without even recieving ONE damage.
lol it would make no sense but would be awesome as hell. 100 sentries with guardian shield and yamato cannon would suck.
