I basically want to run sc2 on it's BEST! What do I need so far? This is what I have:

A modded newer model Compaq Presario
4 GB RAM Cooler master case with fans
    500GB HD

and I think I have a ****ty graphics card
    NVIDIA GEFORCE 7100
    total avail graphics memory: 1470mb
    dedicated graphics memory: 128mb

Do I need a better graphics card? I'm using the same one that came with the Compaq
I can play the BETA. it's super fast no lag. BUT! while i'm playing, the weak *** graphics make it look like im playing some ****ing mcdonalds game hahaha. Do I just need to adjust my current card or something? Because when i set all the grapics to the highest setting IN THE GAME it runs really slow!! I want it to be suggested at the highest setting instead of it saying the suggest setting is LOW. Please help =0(

Yea. To run it on Ultra you need a 512mb graphics card. I have 128 and everything is on low, except textures which are medium.

    Sorry man

The best one for SC2 is prolly the best one on the market.

However, I got an Nvidia 9800 GT, maybe a year and a half old. Runs like a charm, Ultra settings wif no lag, even in huge-o massive battles.

Only time I got slowdown was when I was in a 2v2 match wif another Toss player AGAINST a Toss player, and we all decided to bring out Motherships to the battle. Massive cloaking, uncloaking, Vortex, particle effects...Lagged it, but only down to maybe 40FPS.

    Not really.

The *400 series is hurtin. Go for a *600 or an *800. You could prolly find a 9600 GT for 50-60 used online. I'm not sure what the ATI equiv of it is, but I'd expect a similar pricing.

Get an ATI Radeon 5800 series if you have the money

My 5850 gets 47-95 fps (usually 80-90) with everything on ultra settings @ 1920x1200

    I'm loving it

You can't really tell the size difference. But you can kind of make out the sizes compared to my wireless mouse. See how bad the graphics are!!! =0(

HAHAHA true^ The thing is, it's my TV. I play sc, cod for the wii, browse or watch movies while im on my bed or sex chair =0P I was going to have everything set-up where it'll be on my ceiling but I live in Los Angeles. I don't want a 7.0 quake knocking my TV and bashing it all over our faces. Plus it'll seem like Im forcing my self to get brainwashed hahahah. J/p I don't really get to play that much that's why I don't have a separate monitor, room/or space. I just mostly use it to browse before bed or catch a game or two =0)

One of my monitors is an HDTV.

    :D

But yeah, I can see the appeal.

Unfortunately Compaq Presario is owned by HP and Compaq is their low end model computers so your starting off bad already. You need to upgrade your graphics card to one of the new Radeon HD series.

The big factor is what resolution you are running the game at. When you run at a high resolution it is going to require more system resources, so please post your screen resolution, for the game to look the best you want to set SC2 at your screen's highest resolution so that each pixel on your screen is accounted for.

I'm currently running SC2 on 1920 x 1080 and I'm using a Radeon 4870 and I'm able to set everything at Ultra so what upgrades you need depend on how high of a resolution you plan on running the game on also.
