Have you ever been in Target or Wal Mart and saw an elderly woman with her grandson (or granddaughter), buying a game you know is not suitable for their age group? Or, this cracks me up, when they get them to buy something which is not what they were expecting it to be? I have seen so much of this in the past few months. I don't know how many grandmothers and grandfathers with a deceitful little kid have approached me at the electronics section in Target, because that's where I hang out when I'm at Target, and asked me if Gears of War or some other unsuitable game would be approved by their parents (not bashing Gears of War). Oh, and it cracks me up when the grandchild puts their grandparent on the spot by getting a clerk at the retailer to take out a console from the display, and ring it up, with the grandparent astonished at the price. It makes me sick when I see things like this, because you are basically ripping off your grandparent, not the we have never done that, but it is a little over the top when you rip them off by $600, or by blaming them for getting you an unsuitable game, because we should respect our elders, especially those that are willing to pay that much so we can have fun. What are your opinions?
Wow, its sad that kids can be such con artists. The part that bothers me is how they use( or rather abuse) their Grandparent's. They either take advantage of their ignorance or blackmail their emotions. What is this world coming too.
Its disturbing how young kids are learning how to effectively use thier grandparent's lack of knowledge in electronics to get what they want. How will these kids act when they grow up and become adults in the business and political world.
They'll be successful, if anything, then they'll get sued or something and end up in jail for the rest of their lives or broke.
But a lot of them are like that. If only 1% of them would be like that, it would still count into the thousands world wide. But hey, their parents should keep an eye out. It's not only to be blamed on their grandparents. I'm more worried about the fact that if grandparents go shopping alone, they always seem to but crappy games for their grandchildren.
They always want to buy me a present. : "Money isn't a real present, you would only buy some silly stuff fom it. These books are good for you." But hey, they are your grandparents, what are you going to do about it? Exploit them?
..well, most kids probably picked up the whole exploiting thing from their parents. Or their parents failed to teach right and wrong.
exploitation is an art form. i remember when i got 20 dollars for my b-day and i was so sad. back when i was 10 or so, parents forgot about me and got me nothing, i got the money from my aunt, not even my good aunt my aunt that hates me! my good aunt gave me a IOU that i lost. sad sad times. now i never look forward to my birthdays as anything other then something to reflect on all the bad birthdays of the past. this whole bad birthday thing happened because i didn't exploit my parents/grandparent thru the guilt trip that is my birthday, and let them decide for themselves and then they forgot. so if i don't exploit i get nothing but slightly more on subject, grandparents either need to go shopping with your or not at all, they never know what to buy you, last Christmas i got AA batteries from them.
So true. Last year my grandmother got me a crappy AM radio with a tape player. All the AM satations suck and I don't have any tapes. Also true. My mother is big on control and always tried to manipulate everyone. I learned from the best. Now get me a soda
my parents don't forget. It's just we never really celebrate birthdays, so I don't expect anything, just a change in a number of my age - if I could I'd skip that part too. It's worse when it's THEIR birthday 'cause they actually do expect some gift -.-' As for grandparents... I have one living grandma since I was 1 and she isn't big on giving out money for 'useless' stuff. Didn't really get a chance on exploiting
lol its different for me.. im azn and when its my bday we get what we azn people call it "red pockets" ever heard of those? well its a little envelope with money in it =D. and then i can use it on anything i want =D. i also get red pocket in new year, chinese new year, my brothers birthday (lol i know...), christmas, and also...at random times... but i dont spend my money like crazy...atm im saving up for a car when i get my licence =D
