I was running the EVGA Stress Test and left it on for about an hour until my computer just shutdown, Im not sure if this was the program itself that powered off or if the gpu reached critical temperature and shutdown. I was revieing the log and it shows the card as GTX 480 but my card is a GTX460, as well there was a point the card reached 81.000°C, is this a healthy temp?

    2010/07/20 @ 20:07:10 >> - GPU 1: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480
    2010/07/20 @ 20:07:10 >> - Temperatures: GPU=81.000°C, PCB=58.000°C

Since Intel doesn't like CPU temps above 74C, I go with that number even for GPU's. Was the fan speed maxed to 100% during that test? nVidia's auto-fan is rather stupid and always has been.

gpus normally run hotter than cpus. I think 40-50'C at idle and 70/75'C under stress would be common temperatures. 81'C sounds a little higher than average, but I don't know if that's what caused your computer to shut down.

evga replied and said it was an acceptable temp, but no word on the shutdown
