So apparently Google is planning on bringing fiber based internet to a few communities in the US as a test run. It's planned to hit anywhere between 50,000 and 500,000 people. Oh, yeah. It's gonna be 1Gb/s. Yowza. Linkage I, for one, welcome our new, advertising-based overlords.
A gig a second. And from my experience with Google it probably will be incredibly competitive in pricing. They're gonna put some people out of business for sure. I <3 Google.
A gig a second. And from my experience with Google it probably will be incredibly competitive in pricing. They're gonna put some people out of business for sure. Not to mention they're probably one of the only providers that would actually support free internet principles, unlike--let's see--Cox, Comcast, Verizon, the list goes on... I <3 Google.
Of cause they'd just insert their google ads to all the porn sites and bingo that's a lot of easy advertising revenue for Google.
Honestly, compared to MSN and Yahoo how many Google ads do you REALLY see? And are they nearly as invasive? Google's by far the lesser of fifty or sixty evils.
it only gets annoying when google adds ads before youtube videos. But FF seems to fix that since i haven't seen any since switching from IE to FF
When using IE, a few times a day. Whenever I saw a vid, there would be a 15-30 sec unskipable ad before the video would load. So, if the video failed to load and I had to refresh, the ad would play again.
That sounds like spyware more than an actual advertisement. In any case just the fact that Google is suggesting an entrance into the ISP market has been enough to apparently scare some other ISPs straight.
I'm assuming it was an ad because ppl would post in the video comments about it. Not to mention that most of the ads were for car companies.
Again, YouTube has never had ads prior to videos. They've only had them on the bottom of videos in close-able windows. Perhaps the video creator placed it at the beginning of the video?
If they did, they somehow managed to do it as a separate part of the video, as it didn't load the video until after the ad that was shown in the youtube video window was finished. Also, if I had to refresh, a different ad would usually play instead of the same one again. So i would go to watch a video, look at vid description and comments while the 10 sec ad played, then wait about 2 sec for the video to start loading. EDIT: what browser do you use, cuz ppl commented saying that the video ads only showed on IE, and not on other browsers like FF, etc
