oh no no no Gold PP7 ftw! You get 8 bullets instead of 1 and unless you shoot them in the foot, it's a 1 hit kill. Even that you can still rapid fire instead of waiting to reload.

oh ya, the golden gun was awesome, it really pretty much defined the word pimp. Theres a pair of golden guns hidden in the stranglehold demo for the xbox 360, maybe its a reference to goldeneye?

Not really. Those who hail Goldeneye as a great game generally didn't like Perfect Dark as much. Perfect Dark was to Goldeneye as Halo 2 was to Halo. It lost what made the first game great in favor of generic weapons, plot(s), and overall gameplay. Perfect Dark was ok at best, considering its predecessor was a blowout success and it (PD) wasn't.

Perfect Dark had to use... generic weapons (if you call dozens of multi-function weapons generic) because the IP to the James Bond franchise was licensed to a different company (I don't remember who) so Rare couldn't use the original stuff.

PD's lack of success (again, this is relative, since Goldeneye was one of the best sellers for that generation)
was more attributable to its higher system requirements (an expansion pack was needed to play everything) and the fact that it was released late in the generation, at a point where the PS1 was clearly gaining more attention. Perhaps some of its shine was lost when its main designer quit in the middle of production, but I can't agree with the statement that the gameplay suffered at all. Have you seen the massive number of multiplayer options available? The number of quality maps, weapons? This game even had AIs (simulants) that you could use to increase the chaos when 4 players weren't enough. All of this stuff made the game much more durable than its predecessor, but the players had already moved on, so many Goldeneye fans never even heard of it.

I think that PD is way better than Goldeneye for the N64. the multiplayer had a lot more options. and the weapons weren`t all generic. One would go through walls, go around corners, a crossbow i think and one, when you ran out of bullets it was like that one chainsaw gun from gears of war.

i just called it the grinder :p

the main reason PD didnt do that well is becuase its rating was so high, When I first tried to buy it it was rated R, but then it came down to MA15+

Perfect Dark was a....Hmm....More advanced game, but at that point in time, you didn't want options, you wanted playability.

I heard they're remaking Goldeneye for the Wii, or putting in the Virtual Console....Keeping my fingers crossed that it's not just a rumour.

they already made goldeneye for the ps2. It's called goldeneye: rogue agent. it's pretty cool except the missions take forever to complete. Not like the other bond games. There's also only 8 levels. Perfect Dark Zero was for the wii or gamecube or something and it was okay. But resident evil 4 is so much better.
