    Ghost sniping's an ability like the queen's broodlings given to Terrans. Though they'ven't been shown yet, I anticipate limits on its' potency. Broodlings could only affect organic ground units. (At most an ultralisk, archon, or tank). But a ranged special ability could target air units. Surely ghosts' won't be able to one-hit-kill carriers, battlecruisers, motherships, and the 3rd-tier queens but how'll that work in game? Will those units inexplicably be invalid targets? Will the ability just cause alot of damage? Fluff-wise it doesn't make since for a bullet to down a spaceship. Cost-wise it might be imbalanced to kill a 3rd-tier queen (time and cost it took to evolve her).

    The Nomad, medic's healing given to a dropship, makes a lot of sense. Anyone tying to heal a unit will've an easier time going at it w/a flying healer. In Starcraft 2 Blizzard's trying to make all aerial transports like the overlord: multifunctional. Protoss have a dropship/pylon that upgrades to cast spells (guess warp fields were deemed too potent). But Blizzard's nerfing the Overlord by comparison. Now its' old upgrades are evolutions along separate paths limiting the abilities any one unit can have. I guess its' warranted since the Overlord was undoubtedly the most utilitarian unit in SC: a flying detector, transport, and supply provider.

    Some fools:wacko: have said the Terrans need an insta-transport like the Protoss Phase Prism or Zerg Nydus Worm. The Nydus canal never got much use but I reckon that's b/c of pathing problems in part (units wouldn't automatically use nydus canal shorcuts). That'd be the ultimate in offensive building: a hatcery and Nydus Canals to stream in ground forcers from far-off bases. But Terrans have always been specialized defensively. Bunkers. What other race has a structure just to give its' ranged units stationary hp? One of their new buildings lets them see enemy units! That'll alert Terran players to any incoming drops/teleports. The other races have quick-transports and Terrans have the counter. Once pros adapt to the sensor tower it'll prove very useful. Imagine never being able to surprise an enemy.

    Wraiths should've been kept in. An air-to-ground attack unit for terrans, the Banshee, mimics the zerg's guardian but w/cloaking is better. Cliff-scaling units will overcome the guardian's range.

    The Ghost snipeing would probably only be able to target Boilgical units
    and they can't be biger than a small unit maybe. And does probably around 60-80
    w/ a small chance of killing it if it doesn't kill it in the first place.

    but yeah, then terrans would only have ghosts and they would just snipe other
    players into kingdom come! And only being able to target small or Biological units
    would put ends to uncontrolable/ unstopable reages (other than just completly overwhelming them.)
    how ever in the Gameplay video on the Starcraft 2 site the player had to select the units for each ghost to
    target. this would give the enemy a chance of killing them before they can fire.

    but if the Ghost could kill a whole mother ship it would be in a group of like 500 to take it down in one shot.

    I think its been said somewhere that snipe does significantly less damage to armoured targets, so it cannot be used to take out ultralisks and the like in one shot.

    Personally due to its long range i see it as more of a pushing factor, being used from bunkers to stave against attacks.

    This makes a lot of sense. But I would not say that something like this may kill a zealot in one shot though that would be freaking awesome if it did but just small units as our friend here said. As in tier 1- most 1.5 units will get killed in one shot but the protoss have only 2 tier one units (observer, probe) so ghost will probably not be so effective against protoss than against terran and zerg. And if the "ghost sniping" abililty did indeed kill all units in one hit then *insert guys red text here* but that would WAY unbalanced as a ghost takes a very little while to build, has a lot of upgrades, abilities and jobs to do (as in supporting unit, lore caster, stealth nuker) and they have a low cost and food upkeep so massing them would not be so hard. Compared to massing the things like Carriers, Ultralisks, Battlesruisers which cost very many minerals and food upkeep.
    So say player A spent his time and skill to mass 40 thors and 10 battlecrusiers and player B just massed 145 ghosts then player B would have won without any trouble at all...

    its called Psi round now, it can only target bio units, and does 20 base damage + 80 to Psiconic units(all spellcasters, Dark Templar, and Archon are considered Psiconic)

    with this it means that they can kill High Templars and Ghosts with one shot, Infesters and Dark Templars would survive with 20 hp, and the Queen with 150 hp. (i only took those units into account because they are Psiconic, everything else that can be targetable would only take 20 damage.)

    Vakarak,
    Tier refers to when along the tech-tree a unit can be produced, not its' power. Ghost can insta-kill zealots. If they couldn't it'd be a useless ability. Zealots are the first tier 1 unit Protoss can produce. Ghost are a third tier spellcaster. A spell for killing that couldn't kill a single zealot would be a waste of energy. No one would research or use it. Tiers are easiest to track w/zerg. Each stage of the hatchery is a new tier.
    Hatchery=Tier 1
    Lair=Tier 2
    Hive=Tier 3

    Protoss
    Cybernetics Core=2nd Tier
    Templar Archives=3rd Tier

    Terran
    Factory=2nd Tier
    Science Facility=3rd Tier

    with the all the latest info that i have from Blizzard, Ghost can not kill Zealots in one hit, the Ghost would only do 20 points of damage to the Zealot, because the Zealot is not a Psiconic unit. also the Ghost is not a Tier 3 unit, its more around a Tier 1.5-2 unit, requiring tech lab(requires Barracks) and Ghost Academy(which also requires the Barracks).
    one last note, Psi Round is the Ghost starting ability. so there is no research needed to use it.

    And why are these units in tiers? Because of their power output.

    I was referring to how the ghost sniping ability would not be able to pack enough punch to down a large tier 3 unit per say a Mothership to rival that against a tier 1 unit which is all near and dear to our hearts Zergling.

    What's the name of the Protoss-caster's ability that's similar to psi rounds?

    Anyone seen a screenshot or video of the {swarm} guardian in SC2?

    the closest thing the Protoss have would be Psi Storm.

    the ghost snipe round thingy can kill basicly any small unit in 1 hit but i guess you would need 2-3 snipes to take out a ultra

    (because zealots have 140 hp in total and if you can 1hitKO them with a sniper, yea)
    You can snipe any unit but it only does like 4 damage to armored units.... even the mothership.

    you know what?
    if a sniper could assassinate a battlecruiser captain like kerrigan killed the lietenant in the command center in the terran starcraft campagain

    i stated it once ill just quote myself.

    the Mothership cant be targeted because its not a bio unit, even a Zergling can survive a hit from Psi round right now because it would only take the 20 base damage, and not the 80 bonus to psiconic units damage.

    then... the snipe would only be effective against the zerg casters...
    they have lower hp than other casters.
    the snipe should 1hit ko other units because....
    a sniper should kill a marine in 1 hit.
    the snipe should be able to target all units but affect them differently.
    tank = zip zero nothing
    zealot = BOOM headshot
    roach = see zealot
    and so on..
    the ultralisk though, i'd put as an exception because it has armor plates as a skin and since a marine does 1 dmg vs. ultra... a snipe wouldnt do much..

    yes, i somewhat agree with you, but Blizzard decided otherwise.

    for now Psi round can only kill High Templars and other Ghosts, can almost kill Dark Templars and Infesters, and can bring the Queen to almost half health. everything else that can be targeted only takes 20 damage and wouldnt be worth the energy to use it.

    Geez, I hadn't realised they're replaced Snipe. I guess it does make it more specialised, but seriously, Psi Round sucks. The base damage does little over the Ghost's base damage, against Light units at least, and it so much less effective against non-caster units than Snipe was against non-Light units. It's too specific now.

    Nah, Kharune or someone mentioned in an interview a round that bounces between units and does additional damage to psionic units for the nullifier.

    But if the ghost is on the same height as the battlecrusier, it would ba able to kill the driver and the battlecrusier would be unmoveable for about 10 seconds (changing driver etc.)
    like, ghost on a mountain and bcrusier coming at him, he cloaks and snipes out the campain or whoever is steering the ship... but with Carriers, I dont know... the plasmashields would protect them... But I dont think its gonna be able to be used at for example ultralisk or some other much-hp-unit...

    i agree because ur right 1 hit shouldnt be able to take down a whole huge ship thatd be stupid u could just mass ghosts and take out a whole fleet in seconds
