Has any1 found out how this ability works? it sends in 6 marines for backup, but does it matter how many marines YOU have? like say you have only 4 marines so u use a pod, will only 4 marines pop out or 6? in other words does it takes the marines u have at ur disposal or does it makes new ones? i pretty sure its gonna matter how many marines u have at ur disposal but what do u guys think?

from what we saw in the terran demo video, you get the marines for free.

maybe the ability cost minerals as well as ghost's energy

no, they are built at the shadow ops, at a sligthly cheaper price than normal marines

It's confirmed cheaper. Well the thing is red_dragoon, the shadow ops are a bit higher in the tech tree and since the drop pods are a researched ability, the bargain price of six marines would make sense. I mean since the ability is higher in the tech tree, the strength of six marines is weaker than the six marines built earlier in the game.

I predict (or someone from Blizzcon can tell us this) that it would be about 33% less or 200 minerals to build the six marines. I say this because (I'll reiterate again :p) 1) You have to build a ghost first, 2) You have to research the ability, and 3) Six marines are weaker later in the game. I mean if it was 300 minerals, who would really use the drop pod other than for convience sake? Might as well save building a ghost and researching the ability, but that's up to personal preference.

The way it should work is similar to the Nuke in sc1 where you had to produce one in a building addon - you would build a drop-pod, fill it full of whatever soldier units you wanted and then that pod would take off and land where the ghost targets with the drop-pod ability. Then you would have to produce another drop-pod in the addon and repeat - basically like an instant dropship for soldier-units.

Thats what it does, it works exactly like the nuke production-wise.

The Marines are cheaper minerals-wise. There is a small gas cost in building the pod as well. The Shadow Ops builds these units inside the main structure. No add-ons needed.

I'm really interested to see this in action, and I'm glad they are going to cost money

anyone remember in RA2, you could just be Americans and get unlimited GIs for free? so cheap

I think its logical that its costs gas as I guess it is used to fuel the pods launch.

I wonder, does the pod itself deal impact damage?

You use drop pods as miniature non explosive nukes lol...
Your adviser:Dro-- Drop--- Drop p-- Drop-- Dro-- Drop pods detected..
*A second later drop pods fall from the sky and land on your base, survivors from the drop pods raid your base after throwing up*
*You see a drop pod land on your comand center and it blows up*
    *You have left the game*
