All the ghost currently has for call-downs is the nuke and the drop pod. Well, here's my idea for another one: The Airstrike.

Your marines getting owned? Need that extra edge on battlefield? Build a quick-launch runway on your Starport and call in an airstrike with your ghost. Three Mach 1.5-speed jets fly over your target and drop a few tons of cluster bombs on it. It's sure to give your infantry that support they deserve!

And please don't say that this will make in unbalanced. If this is worked into the game, I'm sure that Protoss and Zerg will get something else to balance it out.

ya like Zergalicious said we already have such a unit and it can cloak,
also if your idea went into the game would the bombers last forever could be attacked, and would they fly off the map after attack runs?

i think sending men in without other units as support is a big mistake =]

tahts y starcraft2 is so...versatile...you needa get many different types of units =]

Instead of having Jets fly over launching a barrage of missiles, why wouldn't you just keep the Jets? What Terran commander in their right mind would actually ask for these Jets to not return?

Yeah I don't necessarily think it'd be a great idea.

First of all, the Ghost already has Snipe, EMP, Cloak, Drop Pod, and Nuke. No more abilities, please! Blizzard will most likely even take out something at this point. Secondly, as other people have said, the Banshee occupies the 'cluster bomb airstrike' role, and there is no need for a similar ability - it'd be redundant. Third - appropriate air support for your Marines already can consist of Vikings (air form), Battlecruisers, Banshees, and Nomads. And finally, jets are modern technology, not Starcraft technology.

Your idea itself isn't that bad, I just think it'd be completely unnecessary in Starcraft II.

I wouldn't be suprised if you was originally from battle.net forums.
But how could it give a good feel for Terran if they can already do an air strike, with Banshees.

i think that the airstrike would be cool but it is not necessary for SC2. As many others have said the Terran have the banshee which will be able to rain down missiles like an air strike.

According to the latest batch, the Banshee's attack is no longer AoE (the Jackal seems to take that role) .

Where did it say that about the Banshee? I didn't see it anywhere.

    Don't worry.

Yeah I don't like it. Lots of games have airstrike, but it's only games that don't have normal air units so it's necessary.

I once thought it might be cool if maybe they tripled the range of the Thor's barrage but required a ghost spotter to target for it, but now I realize that's a really stupid idea.

It remember me the GDI jet in C&C 3, where you got a ability to send the jets anywhere on the map.

But in SC" it would be too powerful because you don't need to dock your aircraft to rearms
