So, I came across this awesome blog post and had to share: http://lbrandy.com/blog/2010/11/using-genetic-algorithms-to-find-starcraft-2-build-orders/ Genetic algorithms are used to search for good solutions to problems with lots of possible variables, and some programmers have found a way to apply them to starcraft to come up with creative build orders! This is the best of both worlds for me, because my thesis research uses genetic algorithms and it's very cool to see them being used to come up with new strategies for my favorite game. The one that this post focuses on is for a Zerg roach rush. I'm looking forward to trying it!
I should probably start playing like mad before a counter is designed. It actually sounds like the coder could've got some money out of this, especially when you think about South Korea. Oh well. They say that the best things in life are free Exceptionally good stuff. Thanks for sharing.
