I just wanted to ask if there is anyone out there who runs games on linux OS, because i just got Ubuntu but I am hesitant to install it because I don't know if my steam account and various other apps will work with it. I am told to run exe files you have to get an emulator. Any info on stuff related to this would be super helpful.

forget games on linux.. however. you can either dual boot your pc to both use linux and windows...

or only install linux and get a windows emulator for it and run your steam account through the windows emulator!

does a windows emulator require some processing power, cuz i wanna put Linux on my old emachines, which has like 256 ram and 1.5ghz processor. I want it to run a bit faster and all the windows XP updates take its toll on it.

ohh yeah.. I do believe the windows emulator will require some power.. and that's without considering the power the game will need.. so it might not be a good choice then.

but linux sure is a good idea for slow computers.. it doesn't even use your ram.

well as far as games go, i'm only gonna be running Starcraft and Warcraft 3 most likely. Maybe Wolfenstein enemy territory and Half Life 1 games like CS or DoD.

Running games on an emulator is generally a bad idea because it sucks up so much RAM in the process. Unless you're playing a game that hardly has any RAM requirement, or unless you have massive amounts of RAM, it's not worth playing through emulators. Stick with Windows or Mac.
