GameReplays.org Speculates on SC2 Release Date

Gamereplays.org has a specatular article on their website that might cheer a few gloomy faces around here. They put the released date at November 28th, 2008 (Black Friday). While this is probably pretty optimistic, they did back it up with... erm... speculation... Take a gander.

I don't buy it.

The design phase has already taken longer than normal so there is no reasopn to believe the alpha and beta will be normal

I'm hoping for a beta or maybe a demo by the end of the year.

I wish it would be released this year, but realistically it will probably be 2009. Blizzard is famous for their delays. Like remember the time WC3 was delayed for three years? :O

i think it will be released in about 3-6 months, cause from what i know they only have tweaking, balancing and campaign left

Don't forget that the Alpha and Beta stages take a while to complete, so I doubt it'll be 3-6 months, not to mention that the Zerg are still in the concept/production phase.

Their assumptions seem quite reasonable, and they make a good case that SC2 will come out before the '08 holiday season. I'm still banking on a 2009 release, mostly because Blizzard has been scrapping and redoing several units and I believe this will keep going longer than people expect. They need to find the right balance and feel for every unit of every faction, and this isn't an easy task.

They're doing the insane task of succeeding SC1, and Blizzard will definitely take their time to do this properly.

2009 is way to long, you know i think blizzard has actually completed most of the zerg but the are testing them right now, and as far as i know almost all units on starcraft2.com (which is quite alot) is decided to stay

They have not even settled which units to use for each faction. It will take longer than 3-6 months I am afraid. I would say 1-2 years.

That's not what I meant. I am talking about how units still are getting scrapped every now and then. And, Blizz said that they have secret Terran and Protoss units, not just Zerg (as they all are pretty secret) .

I searched at many stores, and it says Aug.31/08 :-\ I was hoping I was right for the "Guess the release date of SC2" but I'm not.

I'd rather it not be any time soon tho so they get it just right, cuz it would be annoying if you had to constantly add patches and stuff and then you might do something wrong and fuck up the disc. Happened on my favourite game: Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds Sagas before I discovered Starcraft :[

but I'd say if not November 09 it must come out.

Considering that the Warp Ray is now blue things on the SC2 website things are still subject to change. I think the units that are posted are just closer to being final units, but that doesn't guarantee that they will be in the final version of the game.

2009 is a long ways away, but they're still killing off and toying around with various units. Not too long ago the Firebat was back in the game and even more recently the Cobra was taken out, which means that Blizzard is still testing to see which units will stay and which will go. This will take a while to complete, and once they get a final build that they're happy with they still need to do the Alpha and Beta testing, which will also delay the final release of the game.

(On a side note, I'm not entirely sure why Blizzard puts units up on their website when we know that it's not close to being final. I know that they want feedback, but if those units may disappear why bother posting them?)

So they can get feadback which helps them decide on what to do with the unit instead of releasing gameplay videos all the time.

11/28/08? That's very close to my original guess for the contest, but I was hoping I would be wrong...

It will be hard to wait 11 more months until the game is released, but I will still get it when it comes out! Unfortunately, I will be in college then, so I might not be able to get it until winter break.

Lets just hope that Blizzard doesn't *gulp* *starting to shake* scrap...the game like...dare I say it...Starcraft:Ghost. *Knocking on Wood*.

cuz its the day when im nearly finish school =D. how awesome would it be, when i finish all my tests...and sc2 comes out!! =D =D =D

Late November is when I start studying for all my tests/exams. Having it come out them would ruin my consentration since I would want to buy the game.
